ELORI SAXL - THE DISTANCE OF BLUE (WESTERN VINYL, 2021)
“The Blue of Distance" is a phrase coined by Rebecca Solnit in A Field Guide to Getting Lost, and refers to the phenomenon of faraway mountains appearing blue due to light particles getting lost over distance.
This album combines field recordings of wind and water with analog synths and chamber music to layer an overlapping experience between organic and mechanic, human control and nature. Â Some what this album really accomplishes, for me, is the movement toward the unknown. Some of the strings sound like explorative ventures into a vast wilderness. Some of the stark transitions even mimic a sense of sudden discovery or rapture.
