ellis hunter has been fortunate enough to live a very fortunate life. born to a r&b artist and a backup dancer, music and art have permeated her existence since before she even existed - her fathers first chart topper was the song he wrote for her, the day she was born.  she lived the typical los angeles prodigy lifestyle - she attended classes with the other children of superstars, went to dance academies and private voice lessons, auditioned for movies and commercials, but none of it ever felt real for her. ellis never craved the spotlight, not like her parents did, and when she finally spoke up about it, they ignored her requests to get her a writing tutor, to let her work with screenwriters and behind the scenes. a girl of her beauty, of course, needed to be front page news.  but tragedy struck her senior year of high school; while away at a camping trip with her class, a break in occurred at their beverly hills home, leaving both her parents dead at the scene. ellis heard through a news tweet - the cops hadn’t even bothered to track her down yet.  that one night in late january changed the course of her life; she was sent to live with various relatives, but none who understood or could care for a girl who was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. instead, she found herself in chicago for college, taking a chance on a scholarship she’d received for the article she’d written for a popular magazine about how the murder of her parents affected her day to day life. she found that writing editorials was a way for her to break down the many walls she’d built up over the years, and at northwestern, she dived into the journalism community.  upon graduation, she’d taken a job offer at the chicago herald, but she knew where real news media lay - on the internet - and if she wanted to get a name of her own, she’d have to work for it. that was where fulton university came in - it had been almost a decade since her fathers name was on every headline, and ellis hunter was no longer a recognizable name. in the dismal woods of vermont, ellis could become the woman she always wanted to be - and no longer be the girl with the tragic past.
