‘cept now I have to choose someone. We’ll go with Elfionn, since she’s the main character of the story I’m currently attempting to rewrite.
Sooo, Elfionn. Pronounced Elf-fin ‘cause I was... messing around with Gaelic stuff when I thought her up? Also because nicknames and I don’t actually have elves in this world but now I have an Elf.
She really wants to be a professional dancer, except she’s clanless and living in the archipelago, which means by law that she isn’t allowed to leave the island she was born on without express permission.
So she arranges to stow away with Travellers without anyone knowing, because she’s going to get to Sayin, dammit, if it’s the last thing she does. And she’s not above breaking the laws to get there.
‘Cept then shit goes down and she becomes the mage for a pirate clan. They come to an agreement, it’s fairly mutual. She gets more stuff done there, anyhow. (says me, who hasn’t actually written her outside the one story, so...) Her magic is... shields I think? She uses ‘em to protect people and also walk in the air because she’s a show off and will use anything she’s got going to fancy up her dancing.
And I’m having a hard time talking about Elfionn without summarising her story instead ^^; and obviously I don’t have a page of notes for her, because that would be convenient.
She’s fun to write and not nearly as nervous/shy as she was when I first wrote her, that’s for sure. Still intimidated by Jay, but if there’s anyone outside of Jay’s family who isn’t intimidated by her, I’d like to meet them.
