aaron burr, sir; the story of tonight; the schuyler sisters; right hand man; one last time; hurricane
aahh ty darl
aaron burr, sir:when was the last time you met someone who changed your life?
i feel like i’m constantly meeting people who change my life in both subtle and huge ways so i can’t give a definite timeline for the last time i met someone who changed my life. but one person who greatly changed my life is my old choir director who i’ve known since i was nine, i don’t think i’d be anywhere near the person i am now if i hadn’t auditioned for the girl’s choir when i did.
the story of tonight:talk about some of the best times you've had with friends.
oh man, okay this is where i reveal myself to actually be really boring omg. there’s not a lot i can think of off the top of my head tbh, but i always look back on my last year of secondary school quite fondly if i don’t think about the whole ‘leaving cert’ part. i met one of my best friends there are we just spent a lot of time sitting in this little cubby-thing speaking irish to each other and geeking out of the most random things, and we came to the conclusion that we probably already met when were 7(ish?) at a holiday resort thing in turkey??
rock climbing in spiddal with my cousin and sister, taking free ‘gladiator pictures’ outside the colosseum, getting a sugar rush at disney land paris and subsequently freaking out on the haunted mansion ride because we got separated for all of 5 seconds, staying up till 5 discussing religion and science and space and all sorts of crap, trying to teach each other the cup song, constantly singing la vie boheme, lotr marathons (pointless questions included).
the schuyler sisters:do you have any siblings? if so, what are they like?
i have one sister. dani’s younger than me, incredibly stubborn but selfless. makes me want to be a better sister, terrifying on a camogie pitch, makes great cupcakes, swears like a sailor, emotional, sweet. the best. i baby her a lot though and i would cause grievous bodily harm to anyone who hurt her.
i’m including my cousin (@ncvcrland) because she is like a sister to me and i love her a lot. bel is great, stubbornness obv runs in the family. ridiculously intelligent, talented.
they’re my first friends, and my best ones.
right hand man:who do you look up to most?
my mum and my dad. i may not agree with them on everything but they’re both incredibly strong people and have done a lot for me in my life, and supported me in everything that i’ve done and i aspire to be as good to any children i have as they are to me.
actually, i look up to a lot of my family for a lot of different reasons, my mother’s mother for everything she accomplished and her unwavering faith. my great aunt for her work ethic and the precedent she set for female politicians in my city. my god father and his wife for their strength through everything.
there are more people i could talk about but i feel like i’m taking too long to answer this whoops.
one last time:do you have a hard time quitting things or saying goodbye?
i will wholeheartedly admit that i am ridiculously sentimental and there are somethings that i will just never say goodbye to (my beatrix potter books and my star castles being at the top of the list), but for some reason i find it very easy to adjust after falling out of contact with people. i could psychoanalyze myself and talk about how it all stems from the fact that i’ve never had a solid group of friends for a long period of time, most of my childhood friendships ended at the beginning of secondary school and it is rare for me to actually see anyone from primary school. idk, friendships are weird and i’m not a stationery person no matter how much i claim to love stabiltiy and order, i’m, as one of my friends put it, a flight risk.
in short, i have a hard time saying goodbye to material objects that have a special meaning for me, but not with people.
hurricane:what's the hardest thing you've ever managed to make it through in life?
depression. it took me a very long time to come to terms with the fact that i have depression (turns out i have social anxiety on top of that too yaay), but i’m working on it. i didn’t realise that i was depressed for a very long time (seven years), and it wasn’t until i really thought about it during a therapy session that it hit me. i’m sorry, i don’t really know how to talk about this without rambling so i’m gonna leave it there.
there are a million things i haven’t done
elephantlord replied to your post “So someone on my main blog asked me if I, a witch, would be offended...”
IT DOESN'T EVEN CONNECT THEY GO INTO LIKE, SOUTH ASIAN VS ALL ASIAN RACISM LIKE???? WTF
Yeah like. Racism against Asian people and South Asian people and Black people and Native Americans is all very real and serious, but this isn’t oppression olympics, and while they should be talked about, this wasn’t the appropriate venue. Like no actual point was made, and when I mentioned that they used a term incorrectly and offensively, they ignored it.
And don’t get me started on “two Jewish males”. Pro-tip: if you sound like you’re identifying someone over police radio, don’t talk about them like that. You can know “two Jewish guys” and sound like a reasonable person, but if “two Jewish males” think you’re being out of line, its probably because you do things like this and they’re not actually sure why you’re doing this to them and they want it to stop
