I think the thing that gets me the most about the deep ocean is the incredible amount of water pressure that exists and the fact that these gigantic blind monstrosities just... live there all the time. Under all that constant pressure. It's a good metaphor. And real life.
The closest I've come to a real weapon was archery class at summer camp and I was devastated that I wasn't immediately good at it.
