The MOV-20D201K metal oxide varistor is a protection component used to protect electronic circuits from high voltage transients and overvoltages. “20D” indicates a 20mm disc diameter, which provides significant energy absorption capacity and is suitable for applications requiring robust surge protection. “201” represents a rated voltage of 200V, which means that the varistor
will begin conducting current when the applied voltage exceeds this threshold. The “K” suffix represents a tolerance of ±10%, ensuring reliable operation within the metal oxide varistor specified voltage range. This varistor is made of zinc oxide and other
metal oxides and has a non-linear voltage dependent resistance. Under normal operating conditions, it maintains high resistance and acts as an insulator. When exposed to transient voltages above its clamping threshold, the MOV-20D201K quickly becomes conductive, dissipating excess energy and protecting downstream components from potential overvoltage damage.
