Mommy was in Sparrow hospital for... 12-13 days? I’ve lost track. Lying in bed that much that’s really hard on your strength. She encountered four health issues in there, including one surgery. When it rains, it pours! Right now, she is in rehab at Ingham County medical care facility, a.k.a. “Dobie Rd.” It is well regarded in this area. Mom knows it, which makes it even better. It’s been here a long time, though her room is in a new building. She is able to see me through the window in her room. They sit her up right next to the window. Theoretically, we chat through the plate glass window using telephone. Today that didn’t work, because their phones are being repaired. Even her iPad didn’t work, because the Wi-Fi is connected to the phone system that was down. At least we could smile and wave through the window. Oscar was at home, and I put him on a video call and had him wave at her. She was pleased. One day at a time. Last Thursday and Friday I thought I was going to break from sadness... she was in so much pain, and I could only help by holding her hand. Today I feel hopeful. After all, she brags about being TOUGH all the time. All of your love is making a difference, too. Thanks. Here is a fuzzy picture I took of mom through two layers of glass. She was trying to figure out what I was doing. Check out that white hair and dark eyebrows. At 86, she’s really got a look like no one else. Hugs to all. #ILoveMyMommy #eldersMatter #MommyIsTough https://www.instagram.com/p/CPHFs3fprgB/?utm_medium=tumblr
