Chiara’s expression is hard to read because she herself isn’t sure what to think or feel at the moment. The only reason she asked that was because she hasn’t seen him in a long time and after she greeted him, he started to act like the usual dick that she knows, but can’t say she loves anymore.

He wasted what little good faith Chiara had in people.

Even his reply is unsurprising. She raises an eyebrow for a moment, almost looking amused by how incredibly asshole-like his reply is before her face returns to the usual ‘unimpressed’ face. She tilts her head slightly and leans her chin in her hand, her hair washing over her arm as her fingers slip along her jaw.

Johanne watched Gilbert there, completely unsurprised by the whole situation. After all, she’s known Gilbert for a very long time (too long, some might say), so this was hardly new.

She chuckled at his dismissive reply and pulled up the chair beside him. “Sure did. Broke quite a few of them back in the nineteenth century. Or earlier. It was a wonderfully a bad idea back then, what with all the mercury and lead in them.”

She stole the tweezer from his good hand and took the bad one in hers. “Now stop picking at it like an idiot. You’ll only drive the damn glass deeper and I don’t feel like cutting - so sit back and shut up and let me do it.”

5. your muse visits mine in the hospital

Standing at the foot of his bed, Chiara looked a combination of pissed and concerned. For one thing, she didn’t expect to be his emergency contact. So, when she was called in the middle of the night that Gilbert was in a hospital, she was confused as to why she was contacted. Doesn’t he have proper friends? Family? Some important official? Why was she contacted?

Second of all, she was concerned. So, that’s why she went, in the middle of the night, to go see her fellow nation in the hospital. Even though she hurried, had been asleep prior to the call, and didn’t put much effort into her looks, Chiara still looked perfect. Resting a hand on her hip, she squinted, looking at the mess of plaster, bandages and bandaids in the bed.

“Did you fight a bear?” She asked, genuine confusion in her voice. After all, she hadn’t been told details - only that she had to come to see him.
