Eir can still remember the night the clan attacked her village. The orange of the flames and the piercing wail of a new widow. They haunt her dreams. Adept with a bow and arrow, Eir took out several of their men before finally being subdued. Interested in her marksmanship skills the clan allowed her to live, so long as she joined them. At the time the choice was simple: join and live or die. If she chose death, there would never be a chance to avenge her loved ones, among them was her three year-old sister. It was then that Eir vowed to get revenge. She did not know when or how, but she would avenge the atrocities the clan had committed. Years spent with the clan turned her into a fierce warrior. Her prowess in combat allowed her to be sent on expeditions and raids. She did her best to spare those she attacked from the same fate. Stealthily taking out a fellow clan member whenever she could. Allowing women and their children to escape. It was all she could do without attracting notice.
On the surface she had made friends with the clan. Calling them family and building relationships. She was only human, and needed the companionship of others to survive within her grief. The person she considers her dearest friend is Talita. They were taken from the same village and it was only natural that as they adjusted to the new order of things they became close. Eir disagreed with Talita’s choice to marry into the clan leader’s family. She viewed it as a stark betrayal and for a while the pair grew apart. Eventually they came back to each other as Talita’s marriage became more difficult. It pains Eir that she must keep her true intentions from Talita. The one person who should have been her biggest ally in her want for revenge was too enmeshed in the clan to know the truth.
Quick to anger Eir has most definitely made a name for herself amongst the clan. She disagreed vehemently with the clans decision to accept an alliance with Scotland. They were vikings, not meant to bend the knee. As a result Eir has a hard time showing the royals the respect she has been commanded to treat them with. She sees them as soft. Weak. That an alliance with them makes the clan look weak. For though she wants to see some of the clan gutted for what they did to her village, there are still those members who she wishes to protect. In an effort to achieve both she has started to work with whomever is necessary. She passes information along to them whenever she can without arousing suspicion. Being told to play nice with those staying in the area has helped her to develop unsuspecting friendships with those who can help her further her goal. She wants to see Ragnar Eskilsen and those loyal to him destroyed and hopes that this fragile ‘unity’ will give her the chance she needs to succeed.
