I wanna draw my gay people...
if anyone has suggestions for EightOfBullets art for me, please send it my way!
Tbh most of the time when I think about my self ships it's not even them in a romantic relationship. It's mostly the yearning and the tenderness of something that blurs the lines in little ways from how close and comfortable they are with eachother without explicitly stating a label for their relationship
Like for EightOfBullets it's because they're both so so so averse to allowing themselves to have that type of relationship but they're so so so starved of affection they'll take whatever crumbs the other is willing to give (and they're both willing to give so much). It's about a kind of love and devotion that was created and how even without knowing it, it can affect a person's perception. It's about the kinds of devotion and it's differences; The devotion to an individual vs the devotion to the greater good.
For another one of my ships that I don't have a name for (and is more queerplatonic in nature), it's more about the trust they have in one another and what they can do to be a team. It's about how they focus on different aspects of the world, how they're able to have deep conversations and discussions about things that are affecting them. It's about mutual respect for eachother's skills and intellect.
And then there's the nonhuman who wants to be human x human who feels more connected to nonhumans types of selfships...
I like to explore the psychology of it all, explore the why and the how and the situations that could lead to these things. I like to explore the flaws and the tragedy and the blurs between platonic and romantic and the fear and the resignation to rejection before it has a chance to happen and the acknowledgement that feelings are strange and can't be put in neat little boxes
This may be because I'm on the aroace spectrum and also because I tend to obsess over characters that either refuse to let themselves be in relationships or just have no interest in it in the first place. I'm a they of nuance
Sometimes Vash likes to be silly on purpose. Ikaros doesn't like it when it happens while they're running from entire towns.
