The grotesque dwarf-god Bes, an ancient Egyptian deity who served as a fierce household protector of mothers, children, childbirth, and family. He was also regarded as the patron god of cosmetics and dynamic pleasures like music, dancing, and humor.
Crafted from Egyptian blue, an early synthetic pigment made of a sintered mixture of silica, lime, copper, and an alkali.
A container used to hold valuable unguents, oils, perfumes, or eye makeup like kohl. The opening of the jar sits at the flat top of the figure's head.
