They sail a Sifan ship that’s open to anyone needing a home, especially those needing a safe one - whether forever or if they come and go. Captain Effee is also known as Mama Effee by the residents for her gentle nature and willingness to stab anyone perceived as a threat. I don’t have much about Kodeeli figured out tho.

Effee made a lasting impression on us a year ago when she made her debut with Work It Out. Though it was her first official release, the alt pop artist from Columbus, Ohio is no stranger to the music scene. Fran Litterski boasts a prolific career behind the scenes as a keyboard player, backup vocalist, and writer for other projects, and she’s toured with the likes of Magic Man, Panama Wedding, and Kid Runner before. Effee returns in the new year with a new single named I Wish, her fourth offering to date and a mighty catchy assortment of eclectic innovation that melds alternative pop intricacies with a contagious electronic groove. Her nectarous voice flutters nimbly over a bed of plump, glitchy guitars. I Wish was written in a moment of frustration, according to Effee. It rises from a bit of writer’s block mixed with a dash of self loathing. It’s “a song about being your worst enemy and being (almost) OK with it.” I Wish is the first of four singles Effee will be in the coming months. You can find the single on iTunes, here.

Effee has had an illustrious career behind the scenes and out of the main spotlight. She’s been a keyboard player, backup vocalist, and writer for much of that career, and she’s currently touring with Magic Man and Kid Runner. But Effee is now ready for the bright lights of center stage. Her debut single, Work It Out, leaves us grateful that she’s made the choice to take this huge step.
