𝑯𝑬𝑹 𝑭𝑰𝑹𝑺𝑻 𝑰𝑵𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑵𝑪𝑻 𝑰𝑺 𝑻𝑶 𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑭𝑭𝑬𝑵, unfamiliar and thus uncomfortable with anyone but Jane touching her. But god, she is exhausted. An electrical fire had started in one of the staff breakrooms, and the building had been evacuated and shut down for the day even after the firemen had declared everything safe. Insurance would cover a significant portion of the damage, but they would still need to file a claim, source new appliances, find a contractor to repair the floor and repaint the walls, an electrician to double check the wiring...

Again and again, she was making lists in her head, barely able to focus on her conversation with Hasvir until the feeling of arms around her had snapped her to the present. Once the initial shock wore off, a wave of tiredness swept over Ruby, and she wanted nothing more than to sink against Hasvir, rest her head on his shoulder, and let him hold her.
