Leighton stared at the clock on her desktop and sighed.  Only a few more minutes until she got off of work, headed home and packed for the weekend.  Kenzie was being very secretive about their plans but she knew whatever they were getting into, she would enjoy it immensely.  It was no secret that Christmas was one of Leighton’s favorite holidays, considering the house they shared was decked out in decorations.  Kenzie loved her for this.  The house would always smell of baked goods, were she worried about her weight, she would be pissed but it was nice to always have something to snack on around the house.  

She immediately glanced down at the clock again and logged out.  Leighton was so excited for this weekend.  “Have a Merry Christmas everyone.”  She called out to the remaining employees as they scattered out of the building.  Leighton wore a bright smile as she reached her car, humming a Christmas song to herself.  She unlocked the car door and as soon as she sat down in the driver’s seat, her phone chimed.  

Are you ready for this weekend?  Leighton smiled at the text her girlfriend sent.  

Of course I am.  I’ll be home soon <3  

She turned the on the car and pulled out of the office parking lot.  Traffic wasn’t horrible as Leighton made her way home.  She pulled up in front of their shared home and turned the engine off.  Opening the car door, she spotted Kenzie by the front door with a huge grin on her face.  The front door was opened in such a hurry that Leighton could’ve blinked and missed it all.   ‘Where does she get all this energy seriously?’  Kenzie had tackled the red haired girl in the doorway and Leighton had the air knocked out of her.  

“Warn a girl next time okay?”  She smiled brushing some of Kenzie’s blonde hair back and kissing her gently.  Kenzie returned the kiss and pulled her in closer.  

“Never.”

“Kenz we need to get up and pack.”

“In a second okay?”  She sighed, hugging the girl tighter with a grin.  This is how it was.  Kenzie started to move, untangling herself from Leighton and slowly started standing up.  Kenzie held her hand out to help Leighton off the ground and she readily accepted it.  As soon as both of them were on their feet, the front door was finally closed and the girls made their way upstairs to pack for this mystery trip.  

“What am I even packing?”  Leighton was asking in all honesty.

“Warm clothes, something to dress up in, and that thing I like.”  Kenzie said with a wink as she got her suitcase out of the closet.   Leighton rolled her eyes as she moved around the room packing.  Little did Kenzie know that there was a smaller gift in the outer pocket of Leighton’s suitcase.  She bought the ring on a whim earlier that week - it was a white gold band with a small diamond, something she knew Kenzie would love because she barely wore jewelry.  

Kenzie pumped her arms in the air to signify she was done packing.  “I’m done what about you?”  Brushing her red hair back, Leighton smiled.  “I’m finished!”  

With all the lights turned off and the house locked up, the two girls were outside by the car, putting their suitcases in the trunk.  

“Do you want to drive?”  Leighton asked holding her keys out.

“I do know where we are going so yes.”  Grabbing them Kenzie ran to the driver’s side of the car.  She waited for her to unlock the car doors and get in out of the cold.  Leighton rubbed her hands together while they waited for the heat to kick in.  Kenzie was pulling up the map app she had on her phone while they waited.  They pulled off and Leighton plugged an AV cord into her phone to play Spotify while they drove.  

Leighton’s left hand was in Kenzie’s as she drove.  Kenzie brought their combined hands closer to her mouth and gently kissed her knuckle.  It had been over an hour and they were finally closer to their destination.

“Still not telling me where we’re going?”  

Kenzie smirked.  “Why ruin the surprise now?  You’ll like it, I promise.”  

Over the next hill Leighton could see a few houses in the distance.  Kenzie started slowing down so she wouldn’t miss the turn into where the two would be staying.  As they traveled down the small gravel driveway, Leighton got a good look at the house they were approaching.  It was beautiful.  It was a small two story ranch style home with a wrap around porch.  Kenzie knew Leighton loved houses like this.   

“Wait babe, whose house is this?”

“It’s been in my family for some time but mom signed the deed over to us.”

Leighton gawked at Kenzie in disbelief “They gave us this house?”

“Merry Christmas baby.”  Kenzie smiled as Leighton unbuckled her seatbelt and kissed her.  In a million years, she never thought she would be the owner of a house like this.   

“I love you and your family so much oh my god!”  

“That’s only the beginning of our weekend.”  Kenzie brushed a strand of hair from Leighton’s face and kissed her on the forehead.  “You deserve this babe, you do.”  

“What’s going to happen to our home though?”

“I talked to the landlord the other day about it and he said we can stay past January.  We’ll be moving into here during that time.  He understands that the weather may make the move slow and he’s in no hurry to rent the place out.”  

The car was shut off and locked as the two girls got their suitcases from the trunk.  Kenzie was ecstatic that Leighton loved the first gift, but she was doubting her next gift would be as impressive.  Her mom actually surprised her with the house when she was visiting one day.  “Call it an early wedding gift.”  She recalled her saying.  

“We’re going to be here until Christmas right?”  Leighton asked as Kenzie unlocked the front door and they walked in.

“Of course~ I have so much planned!”

She shook her head and laughed - leave it Kenzie to have things set aside to keep them busy.  It was what Leighton loved about her, that and everything else that made up her girlfriend.   Kenzie gave her a tour of the house before they put their things away in the master bedroom.  Leighton was in love with this house already and they hadn’t been in it but five minutes.

Leighton excused herself to the bathroom before grabbing an unopened package from her suitcase.  Kenzie smiled to herself when she realized what was going on.  She heard the shower running which was always a sign their night was about get fun.  Propping herself on the bed at angle, she waited.  The water was shut off and she could hear slight fussing from Leighton in the bathroom.  “Everything okay in there?”

“Yeah I’ll be right out!”  She slipped the light green lace babydoll over her bare chest and slid the matching underwear on afterwards.  Leighton glanced in the full length mirror to make sure everything was fine and she had to admit she looked hot.   The bathroom door slowly opened and Leighton stepped out.  “I know you said to bring the thing you like, but I bought something new and wanted to share it with you.”  

Kenzie was in awe of her girlfriend.  “Shit, I am the luckiest woman right now.”  

Leighton blushed as she moved closer to the bed.  It starts out slow, Kenzie stroked Leighton’s face, gently kissing her in the process.  Leighton’s tongue licks her bottom lip and Kenzie takes the opportunity to kiss her deeper.   “So beautiful,” Kenzie murmured kissing down Leighton’s neck and sucking little spots on her collar bone. Kenzie runs her hand down Leighton’s back, making her shiver a little, as her hand gently squeezes the globes of her ass.

“Hey Kenzie, Kenzieeeeeeeee”  Leighton said straddling the other girls hips with a grin,”Do you wanna build a snowman?”    

“Oh my god Leighton,” Kenzie said with a grumble,”Elsa sent Anna away after she asked that.  You’re lucky I love you, seriously.”

“I know.”  Leighton leaned forward and brushed her lips with Kenzie’s.  “Morning boo”  

Kenzie wrapped her arms around Leighton’s middle and just listened to her heart beating.  She sighed, opening her eyes and looked up at her girlfriend.  “I had fun last night.”

Leighton blushed slightly, “Me too.”  

“Okay so what should we do today?”

“Make breakfast, do some shit outside like build a snowman,”  Kenzie smiles, ” come back in, get dressed in our fancy clothes, have the best damn dinner ever, cuddle by the fire and see where the rest of the night takes us.”  

“That sounds fantastic,” Leighton grins before pecking Kenzie again.   She accidentally grinds herself into Kenzie as she’s trying to get down from the bed and Kenzie’s eyes darken,”Don’t start something you can’t finish, baby girl.”  

Leighton blushes red before finding a spare shirt and her underwear from the night before.  She rushes downstairs, and Kenzie shakes her head finding a t-shirt to throw on.   The sound of the refrigerator opening was heard, as Leighton tried to find out where where everything else was.

Kenzie kissed her temple as she helped out with breakfast.  They had pancakes, sausage, and toast.  After eating and washing what they dirtied up, both girls rushed upstairs to get dressed in the warmest clothes possible.  

They went out the back door and Leighton fell in love with view once again.  The sun was already out, so her eyes were scrunched up but the snow was beautiful.  They decided to make a snowman and his girlfriend, had a snowball fight that ended in a romp in the snow and they made snow angels.  “Babe you don’t have to make what you already are.”  Kenzie said with no shame as Leighton shook her head.  Her cheeks were already pink from the cold but with her comment, she felt like her face was on fire.  

The two girls decided to go back inside after kicking the snow off of their shoes for hot chocolate and a shower before dinner.  Dinner came and went as they made up a pallet in front of the fireplace to talk.  Kenzie grinned carrying two wine glasses and a bottle of wine in with her.  The other present she had for Leighton was in her pocket and she couldn’t wait to ask.  

Leighton smiled as she gripped the small black velvet box in her pocket.  

“Kenzie,  I’m so grateful to have met you.”  She started making the other girl turn around.  “You are everything I could’ve asked for in a girlfriend and a partner.  I love you so much and can’t imagine my life without you anymore.”  Leighton pulls the box out of her pajama pants pocket and opens it up.  Kenzie is shocked then starts laughing.

“What’s so funny Kenz?”  

“It’s just… we are so made for each other that this is ridiculous,”  She said pulling out the small box, presenting her the ring - the same exact white gold band and small diamond staring back at her.  

“Holy shit, we really are.  Does that make us soulmates?”  Leighton asks, pulling the ring out before slipping it on Kenzie’s finger.

“Maybe, but you forgot the most important question.  Will you marry me?”  Kenzie asks, slipping her ring onto Leighton’s left hand.  

“Of course,” she sniffs hugging Kenzie.  “Hey Kenzie, will you marry me?”

“Yes I will dork.”  She gently kisses Leighton as they watch the wood in the fireplace burn.

“You know what would make this even better?”

“We just got engaged and I want to make my fiancee’ feel as good as she made me feel sex?”  

“That’s an option.” Kenzie smirked before looking at her.  ”A dog.  Let’s get a dog.”
