Edinburg, Texas – Palm Valley Animal Society has an immediate need for short-term foster homes to prepare for multiple rescue transport operations that will be transferring dogs north to partner rescues in February 2020. Rescues require a 2-week quarantine period for transported animals, and providing time for the dogs in foster homes helps reduce stress prior to the trip.

This is a friendly reminder that the Environmental Awareness Club will be having a meeting tomorrow at noon in room 1.288 in the Science Building. We will be discussing an outing to Bentsen State Park/The 900 Year Old Tree for this weeded and other possible outdoor outing during Spring Break. If you are unable to attend the meeting but would like to participate in the outings, please drop us an email or text Alexis at (956) 648-8831. We will also have the pleasure of enjoying a presentation put together by members of the club who went to Corpus recently for a training session in environmental activism. We will also talk about Earth Hour and have a post mortem on our recent fruit cup sale, where we raised 173 dollars! Hope everyone is having a wonderful week and hope to see you tomorrow. Perez Ranch

North of La Joya

The Perez Ranch is in starkly beautiful South Texas brushland habitat. After our meeting, we'll hit the caliche on bikes to explore the ranch, including an area revegetated by Sierra Club volunteers several years ago. Fat tires are recommended.

DIRECTIONS: From Exp. 83 on the west side of La Joya, turn on to FM 2221 and head north. For the first 7 miles the road will be paved. When the paved road bends keep going forward on the caliche road for another 5 miles. The ranch gate will be on the left side of the road.
