"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." (Ephesians 4:29)
In my family we have the bad habit of openly offending each other when we're angry. We never apologize for it, we never have taken the time to mend the hurt feelings. I feel immense shame when I say rude and offensive things to any of my family members, and immense pain when they say them to me. When I have my own little family, I want to make sure this kind of destructive habit doesn't form. I vow to refrain from speaking things that take people away from feeling God's love from this day on, in my family and everywhere else. And if I do slip up and say something wrong, I want to always remember to apologize verbally and honestly to that person, and not just feel bad about it in my heart. I am determined to make this change, and I know that as I pray and exercise faith in Christ, He will help me accomplish this new goal. I know that the Spirit will remind me of what I know to be right.
