A small bouquet of roses grown in my former garden in San Diego, California. It seems ages ago that I was able to pick lovely roses like this from my own garden... The rose variety is called Pierre de Ronsard also known as Eden and I combined them with some scabiosas. I still love this simple, unpretentious, romantic cottage garden style arrangement and I hope you like it, too! I am wishing all my American friends a wonderful Labor Day! On a personal note I want to thank everyone for the well wishes for my mom and myself that I received after my last post. It has really touched me! I am still in Germany trying to support my mom after surgery due to a severe illness. Overall she is slowly recovering from the surgery but there are sometimes setbacks and it is not an easy time. My favorite rose is blooming in full force. This is the Rosa 'Eden' rose is named after the French poet Pierre De Ronsard. Its a climbing rose and is slowly making it up the side of my front deck. This is the second year it has bloomed in full force and looking at it everyday brings my heart such joy. Not much is currently blooming in my garden yet this year. We had a cold snap that resulted in many plants going dormant again. Nevertheless I know in a few short weeks my garden will be full of beautiful blossoms. I can't wait to pick up some more plants when it is safer to do so. Despite the lack of blooms, my rose is a shining star among the weeds. Like all roses, the Eden rose represent love, friendship, and devotion. Because its a climbing rose, it also represents strength, courage, perseverance, determination, and endurance. I think these are all traits we need during these unfamiliar times.
