🪵 … to find my character exploring the barn behind the Inn.

She felt like she was stalking some prey, moving slow and crouched around the corner of the barn. Actually, she felt ridiculous, but it was her own fault for not putting the collar on the calico before letting her out of the carrier. One of the other inn guests had gotten confused, and let Andromeda outdoors unattended when she yowled long enough.
I thought she was the barn cat.
Tabitha scoffed to herself again at the very idea. That cat wouldn’t last twenty-four hours outside on her own. She was too fond of fireplaces, dishes of milk, and ear scratches.
“Ah-ha!” Tabitha jumped out, catching a glimpse of the tricolored tail tip from behind the wall. She had the blue velvet collar with silver embroidered triple moon symbols in one hand, and her free hand reaching to snatch the tricky feline.
She was met with the squarish, sideways eyes of a nanny goat instead. It caused Tabitha to straighten and she heard Andromeda’s loud purring, as well as caught glimpse of a tipped bucket of milk across the hay covered floor. More importantly, the cat had began to wind herself through a gentleman’s legs.
The corner of Tabitha’s mouth upturned in amusement, motioning down to the animal as she spoke to the stranger, “She’s shameless, and...appearently managed second breakfast.”
