Etched on the coin is the Latin word 'Fortitudo' which carries the deeper meaning of strength that the gladiators embodied. A gladiator's strength was not only his ability to fight adversity, but his courage to find inner strength to support his comrads who fought by his side. The lion’s head is associated with the representation of strength. If the lion appears powerful to you, its presence can be interpreted as a positive representation of your self-confidence and personal power.
