May I present Ecto-Skeleton, the resident unquippy spiderperson who broke their universe.

So you know the Ecto-Skeleton? The one that Danny used to defeat Pariah Dark in? The one that Vlad suped up for Jazz to use in "Secret Weapons"? Well... Does anyone else remember how Vlad used that very same suit of armor to put nanobots in Jazz's body to force her into fighting Danny? The show never addresses whether they got the nanobots removed...

Oh yeah, you all know where I'm going with this.

So this post from @ecto-skeleton got me thinking about Connor and video games and I can’t get it out of my brain and now it’s gonna be on the internet forever

The first game he remembers playing was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 64 when he was four years old. Whenever his cousin Aiden would babysit Connor and Zoe, Aiden would bring over his Nintendo and taught Connor how to use the controls and how to navigate throughout Kokiri Forest. It took him five weeks to get past the Great Deku Tree. But then Aiden went to college and took the Nintendo 64 with him.

But he sent Connor the best birthday present a six year old could ask for: a Game Boy Advance and a copy of Pokémon Yellow. Connor took it everywhere with him. It took him a while to get past the first gym, but after a quick lesson from Aiden about type matchups, Connor whizzed through the game and quickly became the Pokémon Champion in just a month.

When Aiden would come home for summer break, he started to come over even if he wasn’t babysitting to play video games with Connor. Their favorites were: Mario Party 2, Donkey Kong 64, Pokémon Stadium 2, Kirby 64 and the Crystal Shards, StarCraft, and The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. But Majora’s Mask made Connor anxious, so he would sit back and watch Aiden play instead.

Connor inherited the Nintendo 64 and all of Aiden’s games after Aiden died in a car accident when Connor was ten. He tried playing the games, but it brought back a lot of memories that Connor wasn’t ready for yet, so he taped everything up in a box and crammed it in the corner of his closet.

He didn’t play games for a while after that.

When Connor was eleven, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D came out. All he could think of was how excited Aiden would be for the game. He’d probably be first in line to pick it up, probably in one of his t-shirts or his homemade Link hat. He’d probably bring Connor along with him, maybe Aiden would have paid for two copies and they’d spend the rest of the day playing the game that brought them closer and... Connor had to dig his fingernails into his arm and hyperfocus on his breathing from keeping him from breaking down in the middle of the mall.

He bought a copy anyway, to go along with the 3DS he got for his birthday. It was hard at first, really hard, but when he got past the Great Deku Tree he trucked on. He went on until he beat the game. And he cried. He missed his cousin, the boy who would turn down hanging with his friends to go over to his little cousin’s house and play Mario Kart. He missed video games. He missed Aiden. But most of all he missed playing video games with Aiden.

He waited until his face was dry and his head was clear until he went into his closet and pulled out the box with Aiden’s Nintendo 64. He plugged everything in, put in Majora’s Mask, and played the game with a smile on his face.

For a whole year, every game at the arcade’s top score was claimed by CLM. Connor Lawrence Murphy.

He loves Nintendo, but he’s also a fan of Overwatch, The Last of Us, the Final Fantasy series, Assassins Creed, Skyrim, Halo, and Dragon Age: Inquisition.
