Wanted to practice showing age in characters (hopefully not just through apparel) after I honestly accidentally drew an adorable younger version of Eclissan.
Was a real fun experiment to then dissect what made her look so young in the sketch, and turn that around to show her as being a lot older in the second sketch.
“Quick Doodle”
Returning to form with one of my oldest children. Fun playing with some brushes too.
Done in Paint Tool SAI.
"Graves are a simple matter here. There is no real structure to where the dead must be buried, and so while for the most part graves tend to cluster in one spot, it is not uncommon to one or two completely on their own. It is the living relatives that decide where their dead are to be put to rest. There they are marked with a plain stone, leaving the family as the only one who knows the identity of the body below. With this anonymity, no one dead soul is treated as either greater or less than another. In her later years, Eclissan would visit one such cluster of graves as often as she could. It was the one place she could find peace while on the run. The closest town kept to the old beliefs, so they would even help to hide her amongst them when a group of patrolling soldiers would come through. There she would spend days at a time meditating between two specific stones, or wandering through the graves. Other visitors would often speak with her, telling stories of those they had lost, seeking consultation, or even asking if they may sit in silence with her as she meditates. The wolf would would always listen and tell stories of her own, doing her best to help these visitors. To the last request, she would never say no, and she’d even teach them how to meditate themselves so that they may too find solace after the passing of those close to them. After the town learned of her passing, they erected a statue of Eclissan meditating between the two stones. It is to represent the peace she brought to those who had lost someone, and creatures still come to sit in silence beside it, while others even leave notes about those they had lost at the base. If the note disappears, it is said that Eclissan has read it, allowing their story to be remembered for all of time." Once again my original character. I really adore her, and you can expect a loooot of art concerning her.
All of these were done around the same time - mid 2014 really. It’s fun having them lined up then because of how you can really see the similar style that I drew with during this period of time in all of them.
First picture: A quick and simple piece. I was playing around with creating a drawing without any plans in mind, going line by line to see what I'd end up creating. It was quite fun, and I love the style of it.Â
Second: I actually had drawn this image on a sticky note before I turned around and did it digitally because I loved the little sketch that much. I would almost think of this as my personal logo for my art, and may end up incorporating it just as that.
Third: Last art piece for today! My own original character Eclissan, where the situation is inspired by the song "I See Fire". Practically listened to it on repeat while drawing this.

That’s it! Short one today, just a bit before bed. Thanks to all who joined, and to those who didn’t here have a sneak peak at what I was working on that you missed out on (plus my dumb face reacting to some songs):
I may stream some more as I continue to work through this piece! It really helps to motivate me, and I love hanging out with my peeps.
I know that I have been very much dead on here, which is fairly unfortunate, but it happens. Been traveling a bit and focusing on other things. However! Just finished this which I have spent a lot of time on, a kinda revamp of the old eye closeup picture I did for Eclissan way back. I spent a lot more time focusing on anatomy and just letting myself go crazy with details in some parts, which was a blast.
I also got a video of the drawing process, which you can check out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09DsHDfhmXs

Here we have it! My final renders of my 3D model of Eclissan. Now, I say final, but that’s just really the final version that I’m turning in for class. I’m definitely going to be going back and continue work over the summer, mainly on really getting a handle on working the fur system along with creating her armor (and since this version of her monk wear is actually missing a piece, I’ll work to create that!).
Overall I’m really really happy with this. I had a lot of fun working on it, and put in a lot of time. I’m so excited to see my character in a 3D view that it’s insane. I probably spent about an average of 4 hours of work on this project every day for like 5 weeks, which comes out to about 140 hours of work. But I never really got tired of working on it, and was excited to get more done as I saw it progress into the final product.
First image is the compilation of renders that I turn in for class, with my own art put shamelessly as the background, (though the version on here had to be downsized a bit, it’s about 2/3rds the size of the real version) then others are the individual renders themselves, jsut so you guys could see them in full size.
Programs used were Maya 2015 for modeling, Mudbox for painting on some of the textures and sculpting, then Xgen for creating the fur and whiskers.
