Echolalia Pride Flag

not sure if any other autistic people experience this, but echolalia and vocal/verbal stimming are distressing and dysregulating experiences for me. using my voice expends energy, and i also usually am hyper controlling of my voice. i am unable to hum, do singing warmups alone, cheer, or make other kinds of confusingly uncontrolled noises, except for screaming and yelling during meltdowns. when i experience near uncontrollable echolalia or intense vocal stimming, it’s more upsetting than it is soothing. it riles me up instead of calming me down.

Husband and I now have a stim thing where after he infodumps and rambles for an hour he laughs "I don't know what is wrong with me!" and I've been saying airily, "It's the autism and ADHD, darling." and then I'll hop into his train of thought because the edibles kicked in and our wavelengths synch up perfectly and we start reading each other's minds and finally I have a community of people who do the same thing in their own ways and I feel so safe with you-
