as i was saying...
(migrated thread from bsky)
thinking about the mental toll of being the sentient stand of a user with multiple near death experiences and is only alive because your user's friend is a healer.
protecting your user was supposed to be your job, your purpose in life. evolution was always the answer. why didnt it work? why wasnt it enough?
act 3 and his ability is criticized a lot, i'm well aware lol, but i think his failures make him more interesting. without help, he (and koichi) would have fallen victim to many battles. he's aware of the pattern, and i think it whittles away at him each time.
so, consider; crazy diamond reminds echoes of his failures to protect koichi. when shot with the arrow, koichi was unable to survive a stand's essence. when against killer queen, he fell. moreover, a trait he and koichi share is that they hate feeling reliant on other people and helpless.
i think koichi was actually very distant from act3 at first. antagonistic, even. it came about somewhere between the trauma and the self-hate. it wasn't until the realization that all three acts share the same memories that he could look him in the eye and see someone who has been there for him through thick and thin.
uhhhhh............... meow ?
