As far back as I can remember I have always been active, whether that’s part of a school sports team or a local club in Johannesburg. As I grew up I became more and more aware of the importance of nutrition and the significant role it plays in getting the results we all seek for a healthy lifestyle.
I see a number of my friends who go to the gym and are often disappointed by their hard work, some are simply unaware that what you put into your body is responsible for about 80% of your results! The ratio is simple – results are 20% from the gym and 80% from the kitchen.
World Food Day occurred this month and we want to make you all aware of what you're eating and that you can easily reach your goals by being a “smart eater.” Just to clarify, I’m not suggesting to only eat organic food or become a vegetarian. It’s all about the balance: exercise regularly and try to stick to food and ingredients which you can trace the source of - when you don't know where your food is coming from, it's probably not good for you! Make sure to treat yourself once in a while too, everyone needs a break from time to time...
We went down to the Real Food Market (http://www.realfoodfestival.co.uk/market/) in South Bank to check our their tasty selections and want share with you our feast of a lunch!
