Written for @buck-star Syd's Easter special. I chose the Easter theme: 🐰 Bad or good hiding spots + 🐣 Steve Rogers + 🐰 Easter wedding + 🐰 Hiding easter eggs
“I bet I hid the eggs better than you!” You giggle and run off with your basket filled with eggs. Steve laughs as you get competitive while hiding Easter eggs for the guests. “No one will find them!”
“Doll, we are hiding the eggs, so our guests can find them!” He calls after you, but you want to win this competition. “I hope you remember every hiding spot!”
Steve sighed as you giggled and laughed while he tried to figure out where to hide the most important egg—a fake one carrying the engagement ring he bought some weeks ago. Steve wants you to find the ring and propose with all of your friends around.
“Where to hide this one?” He ponders as you run toward him, pecking his cheek before running off to hide more eggs. “Y/N, slow down. I don’t want to see you get hurt.”
“What?” You slip on the ground and land on your ass, still giggling. “It’s only a bruise!” You assure Steve when you roll over on the lawn to hide another egg behind a rosebush. “Hah, I’m the master of hiding eggs.”
Steve shakes his head when you crawl toward some daffodils to hide another egg. “I’m almost done, Stevie! How many eggs did you hide?”
Steve looks into his basket, frowning because he didn’t hide a single egg. “I’m working on it. It’s important to have a strategy for hiding eggs. We don’t want to find smelly eggs weeks later because we forgot where we hid them!”
“You’re bad at hiding eggs, Steve,” you accuse before hiding another egg behind a tree. “Only four left! I’m going to win.”
“This is not a competition, Y/N.” Steve walks around the garden, hiding eggs here and there. He takes notes to remember every hiding spot.
“Steve, you’re such a dad!” You snicker when he hides another egg. “You can’t take notes. Hunting missing eggs is half the fun of Easter. Imagine the Avengers do not hunt villains but Easter eggs”!
He’s not convinced. Steve hides more eggs, always taking notes, until only three are left. Two eggs and the fake one.
“I have my tactic for hiding Easter eggs.” He grunts, not wanting you to find the special egg yet. He hides it in his pocket and walks inside the house to think about a perfect hiding spot.
“Duh, they found all of your eggs already,” you tease as the team is busy hunting the Easter eggs. You watch them, a big smile plastered on your face.
Sam and Bucky teamed up, only for Bucky to hide the best eggs in his pocket. Tony works alone, using his AI to help him. Bruce joined Natasha and Clint’s team. He stays out of their competitive banter—afraid the greener side of him wants to join the fun.
Thor and Loki fight over the first egg they found. Thor declares it is his because he’s the elder, while Loki insists on keeping it because it’s green, and green is his color.
Dr. Strange is floating above your garden, keeping an eye on the guests and the remaining eggs. A dozen eggs float above his head, the ones he easily found. Cho and Shang-Chi decided to mediate in a different part of the garden, staying out of the hunt for good.
Peter is out and about, crawling up your house to find eggs you hid on the rooftop. You’ll scold him for using his powers later.
Wanda and Vision stay out of the competition. They prefer watching the others have fun and judging their Easter hunting skills from afar.
“Who hides Easter eggs in the toilet?” Tony complains as he has found an Easter egg in your toilet bowl. “That’s unhealthy and just gross.”
“Ah, that one,” you chuckle. “It slipped out of my hand, and I forgot about it. Call it a bad hiding spot. Just throw it away.”
Tony throws the egg into a rosebush, almost hitting Alpine, who tried to join the fun. She hisses and jumps onto Bucky’s shoulder.
“Hey, watch it! You almost hit Alpine!” Bucky grunts before going back to his task, finding more eggs than Sam.
“How many eggs did you hide?” Natasha yawns loudly. “Do you have a number for us?”
“I hid one hundred and ten eggs,” Steve says and points at the notes in his hands. He observed the Easter egg hunt and crossed every found egg off his list. “Only ten are left from my list.”
“How many did you hide, Y/N?” Tony asks, brows furrowed. “Y/N. You have a list…right?”
“Not really.” You shrug. “It should be around two hundred or more.”
“What?” Tony hiccups. “You hid so many eggs without a plan?”
“I found another one!” Peter calls from the rooftop. “I’ll look for more!” He excitedly says and crawls toward the next part of the rooftop.
“That’s mine!” Bucky grunts as he snatches a red Easter egg out of Sam’s hand. Alpine found it.”
“You mean she meowed after I found it!” Sam and Bucky are butting heads as you try to remember the hiding spots of your eggs. You hate to admit it, but Steve was right about taking notes.
“Guys, no fighting,” Steve sternly says. He looks at Sam and Bucky, and then at Thor and Loki fighting over eggs. “There are more than enough eggs.”
“Found another one!” Peter exclaims. “I already found thirty.” You giggle at his enthusiasm. “Maybe I can swing to the neighbors’ house and find theirs too.”
“No!” All of you say in unison.
The Easter egg hunt dragged on because, well, you forgot how many eggs you were hiding. You had to check your shopping receipts to find out how many eggs you bought.
“Only ten are left,” Peter says after discovering another egg. He is still on the hunt for the last eggs. Peter won’t give up while everyone else settles for beer, food, and having a rest after searching for the missing eggs for hours.
“I found another one!” Bucky chuckles as he walks out of the house, Alpine on his shoulder, and the special egg Steve believed he hid so well in his metal hand. “This one is pretty.”
“Buck…no!” Steve immediately tries to snatch the egg out of Bucky’s hand, but the super-soldier won’t have it. “Give it back! It’s not for you!”
“I found it! It’s mine!” Bucky grunts, fighting over the egg with Steve. “Till the end of the line doesn’t mean you’ll get my eggs!”
Everyone laughs at Bucky’s comeback.
“Buck, this is a special egg for Y/N,” Steve whispers. “You know the thing we were talking about; it’s in there.”
Bucky searches his friend’s face, still not convinced. He’d hate to give up one of his Easter eggs over a lie. “Are you sure?”
“I swear, Buck. Now, can I have it?” Steve holds out his hand, catching your attention. You sneak closer to look at the fake egg Bucky places in Steve’s hand.
“What is so special about the egg?” You poke Steve’s side. “Stevie?”
“I—” Steve suddenly doesn’t know if this is the right moment to ask you to marry him.
Once again, chaos rules your life. Strange is floating over your house. Peter is crawling over the roof, and Thor is still fighting with his brother. On the other hand, when is the best time to ask the most important question in his life?
“What’s this, Capsicle?” Tony snatches the fake egg out of Steve’s hand, opens it, and stares at the ring hidden inside. “Alright, Y/N. You have a year to plan the perfect wedding. We will make an appointment to have an Easter wedding next year.”
He hands you the ring, strutting off to discuss matters with Pepper and his AI, already planning all the details for your wedding.
“What? I”— You stare at the beautiful diamond ring you once admired. Steve remembered you fell in love with the ring while you were window shopping some weeks back, and it makes your heart flutter wildly. “Oh, yes! Stevie!” You jump at Steve, kissing him as everyone starts to discuss your wedding.
“Can I be one of the best men, Captain?” Peter calls from the rooftop. “I found most of the eggs.”
A discussion starts, and then a fight. Thor, Loki, Clint, Tony, Sam, and Bucky try to become the best men, while Natasha, Vision, Wanda, Bruce, and Dr. Strange try to stay out of their fight.
“Steve, quick,” you grab Steve’s wrist to run off with your fiancé, leaving the team to their fight.
You’ll later find them covered in eggs.
