Finally used the rainbow rice recipe from @busytoddler to fill our bin. It took a 5 pound bag of rice plus leftovers to get a good base in our under bed storage bin. The kids would be happy if I did a whole additional bag 🤦🏼♀️ but it was so easy! . I added these rainbow cards from @fairypoppinsdotcom — they have matching sets that show the compound words broken down. So when they found this toothbrush, they looked for their card that had a tooth and a brush at the ends of the rainbow. Simple but fun way to talk about words. Annnnd they’re still playing with the rainbow rice 👍🏻 . I’ve wanted to get back into sensory play — it’s really hard with baby K moving around and wanting to eat EVERYTHING. We downloaded plans from @the.sensory.bin and I’m excited to hopefully make her stand soon! . #whatsinyoursensorybin #sensoryplay #rainbowrice #earlyliteracyideas #funwithkids https://www.instagram.com/p/CFrs3sxl1vM/?igshid=1gawbt79z5miq
Started letter J today! . We love Jamberry — the kids can almost recite it — so it was an obvious pick to start us off. Then... . 1. Going from the berries in Jamberry, we sorted fruits and vegetables. . 2. Turned capital J into a jellyfish thanks to @abcstoacts and watched a National Geographic video on jellyfish. . 3. Letter J maze from @abcsofliteracy . 4. J is for jokes! So I started a little ring of silly jokes we can add to whenever. I’m thinking they’ll be fun cards to have at dinner time too. . 5. J is for June and we really haven’t done much on months of the year. I probably need a song to help us here. But we started by matching symbols to the months. . 6. We finished with a melissa and Doug sticker seek and find page — technically safari but I went with jungle. . . The little cards for fruits/veggies and for the months are actually the same images in a Spanish interactive binder program that we got. I’m not starting that for a bit, but I figured I’d use the images! . . #letterJ #earlyliteracyideas https://www.instagram.com/p/CBMCF_jld9_/?igshid=17i50cn5pxhjt
Here’s something I’ve added to our classroom space that the kids really like! . These little buckets were on sale at @orientaltrading so I used a dry erase marker to label then hung on command hooks down the hall. . Inside, I put these little books from bigger alphabet sets I love by @thisreadingmama and @royalbaloo . These are really helping M learn lowercase letters and H as he is starting some sight words. So hopefully displaying them like this will keep them going back to reread 💗📚 . #earlyliteracyideas https://www.instagram.com/p/B_3gl8gFzS8/?igshid=moprpz4c4w71
