What am I meant to do if I can’t ride? 

You know, I remember very clearly the first time I thought we were gonna go out. School trip to Calais. One of the boys dared you to buy - what's that metal, serrated-edge thing that you throw-- a ninja star. And you knew it was illegal to take it back to Britain, but you did it anyway. Hid it in your sock. And we were on the boat trip back, and I sat by you. And we went to the deck to see the sea. I always loved the sea. And you were sat there. And I sat beside you. And your sock was covered in blood. And I asked you what had caused your sock to be covered in blood. And you took out your ninja star and said you were hiding it but forgot it was sharp. Your ankle was cut to pieces. And you said, "I know it'll look suspicious, my sock bleeding. But I couldn't think where else to put it. I mean, they check your bags and pockets and-- and I don't want to put it down my pants, do I?" I thought that was so funny. I think I laughed for about five minutes. And you-- you really laughed, too. Yeah. Together, we threw the ninja star in the sea. I just thought you were so sweet.
