The Beginning
When the Tidelord disappeared, Siren knew immediately. She bolted awake in her den, Torrent, her long time friend, on guard at once. Something had changed with Torrent. It was at this moment, for the first time in his life that he knew he had to protect Siren. That he had found his charge, but not her exactly… he wasn’t certain then, but it would soon become apparent that his charge was her quest. Her quest to find the Tidelord.
She had always heard whispers, that much was true. Siren was used to that sort of thing. For whatever reason, the Tide Lord’s prophecies and secrets always came to her when she was least expecting. Usually, there was nothing to be done and they were fleeting. This was far different.
“Find me.”
It rang in her ears so loud that she couldn’t hear Torrent’s worried voice or feel his insistent nudging.
When she finally snapped back into things she knew what she had to do. She had to find him. She had to follow his orders and seek him out. Though the only thing she had to go off of was the odd whisper, the same kind she was used to, but with more of a buzz about them.
As she explained to Torrent, it clicked into his mind. He knew that her quest was his charge and thus, she was his only guide, his only hope, of finding the Tidelord.
Misfits S1E1 grace notes:
* Both Curtis and Kelly wear crosses
* Curtis is invariably the only one ever working
* He’s also the closest to woke - he calls out Nathan here on how he treats the girls, and Alisha on her ‘light homophobia’ in the next ep.
* Nathan and Alisha are actually kinda close in this ep, and you can see why, they’re pretty similiar. She actually starts her infamous story in part because when she asks the boys if they want to know what she did, he says ‘No’; they’re both crying and freaking out over the blood when they find the bodies; they’re sharing a joint in the bathroom, they both do the ‘Fuuuuuuuuuuck’ line, and they’re both truly obnoxious in the pilot (Nathan’s crowning moment is probably the racist ‘You let your people down!’ to Curtis; Alisha’s perhaps reacting to Kelly’s returning to save them with ‘Ugh, you should have gone to the police!’)
* In the bathroom when Simon turns invisible, it’s hard to make out, but the others are discussing Tony taking their phones. Nathan suggests ‘He's probably using them to call one of those sex lines.’ Curtis says ‘Those sex lines will eat your credit.’ Alisha asks: ‘Call them a lot, do you?’ And Nathan finishes: ‘He's out there feeling himself on our phones, naked. Masturbating.’
* They start dividing the groups by gender pretty swiftly - the guys have their own scene prior to talking to Sally about Tony’s disappearance, and they’re playing foosball without the girls. (Well, Curtis and Nathan are, Simon’s playing with what looks like a snooker chalk.)
* Simon-wise, he looks hilariously crushed at Tony taking his phone. He also falls over when Alisha stops using her power on him, the only guy to do so that we see. He’s also the only one not laughing when Nathan and Gary fight; and he appears to be following Matt, his neighbour, in the ‘Lonely Souls’ scene. He’s also the only one not to reprimand/fight Nathan when he touches Simon, Curtis yells when Nathan slaps his arse; and Gary threatens to hit him when he blows a kiss.
* Tony calls Kelly a ‘lesbo’, randomly enough.
* I wanted to cap everyone’s rooms, Alisha’s is pretty dark, and mostly centred around the mirror, but there appears to be art reflected near the top, as well as photos of her with friends, and what looks like small nativity figures.
* Kelly’s power roundup – of all the times she uses it, she hears Nathan the most, Alisha/Curtis/ and her dog the least.
* Crimes – Simon probably got off the lightest in terms of the seriousness of the crime, Curtis the harshest with his 200 hours, and Alisha was already banned from driving and four times over the limit hence the attempt at arrest in 1.2 I guess (Alisha’s crime is the least explored.)

Nathan + blowing kisses
Nathan Young + performative masculinity
2. What do men do? Um, wrestle?
3. Even Jamie’s put off, and he’s hardly woke
4. Apparently they do not love it :/
5-7. Pretending not to know Kelly’s name.
8. Would have added ‘I’m a man, it doesn’t take much!’ from 2x3 to add to the uneffusive compliments there.
9. Oh shit, that worked?
10. It’s easier to humiliate people than be nice!
11. Gays can’t flex, it’s a scientific fact.
12. No shit!
