heavyjan week 4 (day 22 - 29) recap!
It's March and I haven't finished posting my heavyjan recaps LOL sorry about that!
This one's a bit of a mixed bag of studies and originals. I've become super comfortable with using heavypaint that drafting quick concepts was now a possibility! (see day 25)
It just happened to be Rally Monte Carlo, so I did a quick study of Jon Armstrong's car (day 26). Had it not been for the studies on corvids, this piece's colours would have looked murkier. Blacks are more colourful than you would think they are.
This is where the fun began. I revisted an old unfinished project ("We Seek The Light Up North"), painting Harald Falstad (day 28) and Ingrid Eriksdottir (day 29).
I've only painted human figures from the bust up, so I wanted to take it a step further: Half-body! Blocking in the characters was challenging when you try to see it as forms, but a change in mindset makes it easier when you visualise them as silhouettes!
Also felt the need to breathe new life into these characters from my formative years of making art! 🥰
Seriously!! Look how stunning Ingrid is!!!!
Obviously there's a lot of errors and mistakes to be found, but improvement is perpetual and basking in the joy of creating is so satisfying!
Stay tuned for the finale of day 30 and 31... if i don't forget about it haha!!
