Teagan was excited. She hadn’t seen Gemma in years, not since after her defense. She’d moved on to a post-doc, but now they’d actually ended up in the same city. Of course, they were working in completely different places, doing completely different things... But that didn’t mean that their circles couldn’t cross. And somehow they had. It was her first year as faculty and she was actively recruiting people for her lab. So she’d gone to one of those recruitment fairs for graduating students and just happened to see Gemma. It was a busy day so they didn’t get to spend long catching up. But they’d exchanged their new numbers so they could get together to actually catch up. 

And that was the plan for tonight: to catch up and to meet Gemma’s husband. Since Teagan was still new in the city, she’d let Gemma pick where they would meet up. Teagan was always a nervous person, so she was definitely early. But it gave her the chance to relax some before she saw Gemma and the man accompanying her. “Gemma!” she greeted as she stood up to hug the other woman before looking up at the man. “And... you must be Javier?”
