Pride is a misleading myth. Especially when attached to human egos. It is perhaps more backwards productive to be proud of a higher God or your government. Pride becomes blended with power and therefore people feel compelled to control how it must work for you. Nobody will ever truly have pride or admiration in you. This will set them up to critique how you approach your life if you expect them to dictate it. They will pick traits in other humans that they wish so bad you could be more like. But that isn't you. This makes you vulnerable to their control. It is important to learn how to seek what makes you proud of yourself. When they criticize you, take it not as that. Just that they don't agree with it personally. From family members to bosses to friends and lovers. Love yourself and your own goals first, though it's hard. It's not your responsibility to make someone else content.
