COMING SOON: THE BIGGEST SMALLEST DAD IN the history of books:

Chris’ dad Dave was a special sort of dad,

Normal sized, and not at all bad.

They went swimming, biking, and playing together, all life’s many joys,

Having lots of fun as if both of them were boys!

  But then one day, Dave’s bellybutton popped!

When Chris saw it happen, his jaw nearly dropped.

And then rather suddenly, his father had to shout,

‘Look at my belly! All the air is coming out!’

  But then, of course, up came the biggest shock of all;

Chris’ father Dave was becoming very small!

Dave’s clothes began to loosen, it was such a surprise,

He was shrinking right before his son’s very own eyes!

  But Dave wasn’t letting it get him down,

Despite his shrinking, he was never gonna frown,

So now he was gonna keep on having fun,

And being a good father to Chris, his only son.

  Chris measured Dave as he became smaller every night,

And soon, both dad and son were now exactly the same height!

Chris even gave his dad some of his clothes to wear;

Since he was now the same size, those clothes they could now share!

  But it wasn’t too long till Dave shrunk so small,

Even his son’s clothing didn’t fit him at all!

From a handkerchief and a safety pin,

Chris fashioned a loincloth for his dad to be wearin’.

  Chris made a house out of a shoe box for his father to live in,

With a clean sock for a sleeping bag, it made his father grin,

He put in some little boxes to make the furniture inside,

and let his dad climb into his pocket when he wanted a ride.

  Soon the neighbourhood had amazing tales to tell,

Of Dave, the shrinking father, and his giant son as well;

He shrank smaller and smaller, and then to Chris’ surprise,

Dave stopped his shrinking at around a Lilliputian size!

  Chris, however was worried for his tiny-sized dad,

if someone stepped on him, it would make his son very sad.

To fix it, Chris thought up a very special way,

And put his plan into action the very next day.

  Chris said, ‘Dad, here’s a game that’s lots of fun,’

‘It’s a game I like to call ‘Blow Your Thumb’,’

‘We’ll blow our thumbs as hard as we can,’

This was of course, part of Chris’ plan.

  Dave agreed to the game with a big wide grin,

and Chris said, ‘Whoever blows the longest, wins!’

Then he called out, ‘1, 2, 3, GO!’

on their thumbs did father and son blow.

  As Dave blew his thumb, he started to grow,

He was filling himself up with his one big blow,

When he finally stopped, he saw to his surprise,

He was now back to his normal size!

Dave said, ‘We should make a book about it for kids,’
