So the WDFPF Single Lift Championships are taking place in Dusselfdorf University in Germany right now.  The competition started today and will run all weekend.  Today was the day for Squats. Tomorrow with be Bench, finishing off on Sunday with Dead Lift.

Team Ireland has a good chance of winning best team on at least one of the days of competition.  There are over 90 Irish entries, the largest of any nation!  France follows with over 80 entries.  There are expected to be over 385 lifters competing over the three days.

No nation has ever won best team in the European Full and Single Lifts and in the World Full and Single Lifts all in the same year.  This year, Ireland has the chance to make history!  And there's also the chance to win the 4 Nations in August (Ireland, Wales, UK and Scotland - for those who don't know).

Ivan Lynch - World Champion - 277.5kg Squat - over three times his body weight, classifying him as an Elite Lifter on World standards!

These four girls train in the Performance and Fitness Academy.  Martina Hennessy, World Champion, Nicola Leavy, 3rd, Louise Nolan, World Champion, and Sari Redican 2nd.  Four lifters, four top 3 finishes in the world.

Ayshea Ullah also nailed an impressive 140kg squat.
