#during school

this ones nice and sweet, no angst, no warnings

((i did too much angst last night and the world needs some balance and i was NOT supposed to hit send yet))

Sirius looked up at a very tired and haphazard remus and instantly his heart panged with guilt

He had had detention, the reasons as to why unimportant, but had missed seeing moony in the hospital after the moon, and then but the time he got out it was closed. Normally that wouldn’t stop him but James and peter had convinced him to rest.

Actually, the more he looked at remus, the less “haphazard” he seemed and more “breathing is physically hurting me” and judging by the uneven, shallow breaths coming from him, he guessed it was true.

“Merlin Moony, sit down, why are you out of the hospital so early, you look like shit”

Moony let out a hollow laugh,

 “as opposed to what i normally look like which is… not shit supposedly?” but he obliged and took a seat

“Oh shut up remus, everyone knows you’re absolutely gorgeous.”

He should not have said that, he should not have said that, he didn’t need to be slipping up at a time like this with remus so close to him. Remus merely looked at him quizzically but didn’t say anything. That was a relief at least. Until it had been thirty minutes of the both of them sitting, stiff and on edge

finally remus groaned, and just meekly said “Just- I just- Can i lay on you, just for a second, just, please?” before waiting for an answer he pulled a pillow over and plopped his head down on siriuses lap. "sure, go ahead" sirius murmured in an amused voice but it must have gone unnoticed, not like he was complaining though

Remus sighed contently, and before sirius knew what he was doing his hands were running through remus' hair. It was softer than he had ever imagined, was that a cliche, he thought to himself. Because it sure felt like a cliche

remus jolted at the touch but didnt say anything, and for that sirius was greatful. He didn't know what was happening, but he knew he would always be happy just to think about this small content moment in front of a fireplace with remus in his lap

after what felt like ages, remus' breathing had slowed and it didn't sound as though it was killing him anymore, so sirius took that to mean he was asleep

unsure of what came over him again he whispered

"your hair is so bloody soft. and i love that, shit i love that about you moony. All your soft jumpers and hair and smiles to hide what you think is a pokey prickly inner you but i dont see it that way remus." He laughed, more to himself than for the sake of laughing. "You don't know what you do to me. merlin if you only knew what you do to me moony. But that wouldnt be good because first off, im a guy, ive never even seen you look at anyone with romantic interest much less a guy. And its me, im sirius, we're mates" he laughed again "you would let me down gently, and then we'd never be normal again. How great it would be just to get it off my chest though. I suppose thats why im talking to a sleeping you. Merlin remus, you wouldn't laugh, you're too nice, despite what you say, but you wouldn't love me. Not the way that i love you, but that will have to be alright because i am just fine being your friend and you'll-"

"before you plan out the rest of yours and my life could you at least have the consideration of asking me first. Also don't stop with th' hair and the fingers, s'nice"

if it was possible to pale and blush at the same time, sirius did it

"ahahah hey moony woke up from your nap didya, just talking to myself don't mind me im just crazy, must be those black genes-"

"Jesus christ pads i thought the, ya know, me responding thing would have told you that i didn't fall asleep"

"oh" sirius literally gulped, how cheesy was that, he thought

and then, remus was on top of him, fully, sitting in his lap holding his hands

"now let's try that again, but this time with you looking me in the eyes"

sirius was not put in gryffindor for no reason, so he simply took his shot (if he was understanding this whole thing correctly and hes still not sure he did) and leaned in and kissed remus

and then suddenly, a million things felt like they happened at once

remus was kissing him back and oh merlin remus was kissing him back did his heart stop or speed up he doesn't know and then the common room door opened and lily came flying in, clutching the results to one exam or another, and then the male dorm room opened up and out came james and peter

"Remus I got an O-oh!" "hey sirius, mate, so i know that- BLOODY MERLIN"

sirius had the grace to look embarrassed, remus however, didn't

he was still kissing sirius, and sirius had to gently pull away and say "hey moony i think we've got company"

to which moony replied

"i have waited so god damn long for this i don't care if evans proposes to both james and peter im not stopping"

sirius was only happy to oblige
