“ Right, well I hate to break the news to you but for some it’s easier than others. You’re just stuck wading at the shallow end of shite luck by the looks of it.” And of course the next caterpillar found would be this miserable wretch that didn’t even want to use his gifts. What an absolute waste of breath. Who would’ve thought it was this difficult to find the omniscient among those of hearts land.         “You’re life is what you make of it once you get luck on your side.”Violet struck a match and lit the fresh cigarette hanging from her lips. “ That being said You’ll tell me where my chances are best suited to finding land above ground for asylum for my centipedes. Heartsland isn’t cutting it, y’ get me? If you can’t? Well I’ll put you out of your misery here and now. Wouldn’t that be nice?”

His gaze was unblinking as he stared ahead through the windshield of his car, the dull ache behind his eyes not surprising him. Neither was the figure sitting in his passenger seat. “Yes.”

Widget didn’t look at Violet. He knew enough about himself and the workings of his brain to understand there were a few nuts and bolts loose. Screwy - that’s how the shark would have put it. “You weren’t here. So I thought you were gone.” 

He did look at her then, the furrow in his brow slight. His sentences were easy to  grasp with his interactions with Violet. They weren’t stunted and Neandertalic. Probably because this wasn’t real - or some variation of it wasn’t real. Or it was all in his head - but did that make it real?
