it was frightening, wandering around the dungeon aimlessly. but without her family, she was stuck down here. mari was lucky she hadn't been slain by any dungeon parties looking for monsters to slay thus far, but who knew when that luck would finally run out?
perhaps part of it was because she used her special eyes to temporarily freeze anyone trying to hunt her down. she wasn't fully a medusa, so she could only freeze them in place temporarily, but it was still an opening for her to flee to somewhere safer nonetheless.
mari froze when she heard footsteps come from afar, followed by chatter from members of a dungeon party. she quickly darted behind a wall, though her clumsiness got the better of her as she fell to the ground unceremoniously with a loud and sharp yelp that surely garnered the attention of someone from the traveling party.
she closed her eyes in preparation for the worst, but after peeking one eye open, she saw a half-foot approach her. she tried to back away from him, but was literally cornered, back against the wall.
"u-uhm... i... please don't hurt me..." mari begged, eyes glowing red instinctively. she didn't even realize her powers were activating, but her innate instinct was to cover her eyes just in time, her mother's warnings from the past reverberating in her head like a mantra.
