hey, everyone. first of all, i'd like to thank all the support this archive's been receiving since day one. it's so rewarding and motivating to see something that was made with no intent of being an actual project that people would even care about getting so much support. i'm truly thankful for every single one of you and you all have my gratitude forever for believing in this project. but the thing is, the past events regarding the disastrous "AI art" video for old wounds truly disappointed me, not only as a STEM student who works in a research about how harmful AI can be to personal data if it's used recklessly and as a l.s. dunes fan, but also as a person who's truly appreciative and respectful of art and artists and understands how much REAL art can be underrated and disrespected. i love them wholeheartedly as people and as artists and i've been following their work for years, way before l.s. dunes, but everything they stated in their last two posts, especially in their last post, is the opposite of my views of ethics in technology, and i don't think i will change my mind on that matter. AI art is not real art, it's just a processed "copy" of someone else's artworks via stable diffusion, a deep learning model to generate images, and to train that model, you have to input REAL images (in this case, art pieces). tl;dr: "AI art" works through other REAL people's REAL art, regardless.
that being said, i'll give myself a break from this archive. i won't be posting anything related to the video, or anything about them, at all, starting today. this hiatus may last a week or two, or a month, i don't really know. it will be on a hiatus for an undetermined amount of time.
again, i'd like to say thank you SO MUCH to everyone who followed and/or interacted with this archive and i hope things better, 'cause i still love this band so much, but this whole thing is just really disappointing.
anyway, i'm hoping to see you all in the future really soon if things don't get even worse. thanks so much for reading. <3
