It includes musical styles from South Africa, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and the USA represented by Hip Hop, the new "American, true music, that was happening on the streets" (again quoting Malcolm McLaren). This record helped to further legitimise and break Hip Hop to the rest of the world, as well as creating a fusion with African traditional and popular music three years before Paul Simon's "Graceland". The World Famous Supreme Team inserts and scratches throughout the album bring a continuous theme way ahead of it's time (think the likes of later albums from Prince Paul, or The Avalanche's).
