TBH this is such a good ref because I do interpret them more like the fannon, I forget ace can be polite and Sabo generally won't care to be That's why I love them tho they are so complex ��

wow, so true. I totally view them fanon-wise. It's hard to remember the canon whilst sucked in the OP fandom. Good point to remember in my fanfics though
it’s definitely easy to forget canon when you’re so deep into fanon hehe!! even knowing the canon so well (i’ve read all of op twice and periodically reread sabo’s parts all the time) i often fall into that trap.
i try not to with sabo though just because....i find a lot of the fanon interpretations of him to be really boring and baseless haha. like...he must be polite because...he dresses nice, i guess?? idk, i love my canonically rude and angry rebel child much more than any ultra nice gentlemanly sabo ehehe. it seems to me that their canon selves are often a lot more unique and non-stereotypical than how a lot of fandom interprets them.
