Did a sketch of what I think Solasaich from The Secret of St Kilda looks like because of this theory I made
I based it loosely off of illustrations of various sun gods like Apollo and Sol, and his hair is inspired by Ra’s falcon head :D

Only three episodes in but a theory I feel pretty confident in already is that our "Narrator" (voiced by the lovely Alisdar Stuart) is actually Solasaich, Dubrach's brother.
We only ever hear him narrating when following Lockie, never any of the other characters on the island. We know from the end of the first episode "Trust" when Andromeda is possessed by Dubrach that Lockie is very likely a descendant or host of Solasaich, as Andromeda is for Dubrach, and this is likely why she takes such an interest in him in the first place.
Andromeda/Dubrach (addressing Lockie): I have seen you Brother! And I will claw my way out of my very grave to find you!
At the start of episode two, "Honesty", while Lockie is having a nightmare, the "Narrator" seems to adress him directly:
Lockie: No, no, I can fix this!
Narrator: Can you?
And the way he speaks at times as if they are the same person:
Narrator: Solitude is not a gift afforded to us this morning, however
And again in episode three, "Justice" the Narrator adresses him directly as if talking to him personally and seems very concerned about keeping him alive:
Narrator: The past can't be changed with wishing. You need to focus now. Where are they taking you Lockie? Where are they taking you?
...So our "Narrator" definitely has an agenda of sorts, and I don't know who else it could be other than Solasaich, talking to Lockie as a voice in his head.
(also yeah Salem from RWBY has primed me to be suspicious of narrators secretly being the main villain, while also still being one of my favourite plot twists because it's so badass)
Ok I just listened to The Secret of St. Kilda and I have A LOT OF QUESTIONS but the question rn is
Is the Narrator actually Dubrach or Solasaich? I see people saying the latter but I think the last episode basically confirmed the former. Am I wrong?
The Secret of St. Kilda
I love being in on the ground floor of a new fandom. I just listened to the first episode of the Secret of St. Kilda, and I have thoughts on it.
First of all, Lockie. I haven't quite made up my mind what to make of him. He seems like a nice enough guy, but considering that he apparently faked his death and left behind a wife and kid to come to St. Kilda's makes him a bit questionable. He's a nice guy with just a hint of menace about him. Andromeda seems to trust him, but so far, we haven't really seen any reason as to why.
Mathias has been described as being kind of a dick, and I can see that. He really didn't need to sick those boys on Lockie. But on the other hand, I kind of got the impression he has a thing for Andromeda. I mean, he did kind of ask her to marry him in that first conversation they had. He's neurotic as hell, probably runs himself into the ground trying to micromanage stuff he shouldn't be worrying about, and is just so damn earnest about it. And I love him.
Andromeda, the high priestess of the cult of Dubrach. She just comes across as so down-to-earth, and seems like she's little Hari's cool aunt. I get the feeling that she's new to leading the cult and worried about whether she's going to screw it up. She did great right up until things went wrong at the wake, and I did not expect her to end up cussing someone out in grand style in Scottish Gaelic.
The impression I got was that something (possibly Dubrach himself) was speaking through her. I ran the Gaelic through a translation program, and this is what I got: "Brother, you imprisoned me and stole my name and power. And now I see your descendants coming to stop me, But I will not stop until our presence..."
Something is happening on St. Kilda, and I can't wait to see how it unfolds.
So, what do I think is going to be important in the future?
Andromeda has some kind of skin condition that apparently her mother and grandmother had, too. It's not healing, and she thought it was getting worse. It has the potential to be a factor in things, but I don't know how it fits in yet.
For my money, Lockie's past is going to come back to bite him in the ass. I have my reservations about the guy because he's a con artist, and because of a story an old friend of mine from college wrote (pre-MCU), where a man named Locke turned out to be a particularly malevolent incarnation of Loki.
I have the feeling that the description of Mathias as having the spiritual sensitivity of a pancake is going to come into play at some point here. Either that's going to turn out to be dead wrong and he's going to end up doing Andromeda's job, or he's going to end up in serious trouble because of it.
I think there's going to be some kind of love triangle between Lockie, Andromeda, and Mathias in the future, and at this point, I don't know who I'd cheer for.
I think whatever possessed Andromeda is definitely going to show up again, and that whatever it was talking to will turn up, too. I have a feeling that the little island of St. Kilda is going to turn into a battleground for ancient gods before this is over, and the town is going to be caught in the middle.
This is going to be a wild ride.
Thought of the Day - 13 Feb '22
The title is The Secret of St Kilda, not The Secrets of St Kilda. This of course implies there is one big secret rather than multiple smaller ones. Now if I had to guess this has to do with one of the following:
The possibility that everyone on the island is already dead.
The possibility that who the islanders see as Dubrach and Solasaich are actually the same entity OR the other way around from what they believe.
Yes, I will elaborate on these points further in the following days!

Blinded by the Sun
introducing my TSoSK OC, Lune!
His name used to be Aster and he was an augur for Solasaich, but he became too powerful and important to Solasaich, and so to “protect” Aster he blinded him, turning his hair white and his eyes a pale, milky yellow. Because who would want a blind servant besides him? (Spoiler alert: Dubrach would)
Seeing this as betrayal, Aster fled and found Dubrach, dedicating his life to the merciful god. He changed his name to Lune and started anew on Hirta. You see, little did Solasaich know that blinding Lune allowed him to see past the harsh light of the Sun and divine the spiritual truth via the gentle light of the Moon.
Secret of St. Kilda - Justice
I just listened to the new episode of Secret of St. Kilda, and, of course, I have thoughts.
The biggest one is about Lockie's past. I figured it would come back to bite him on the ass, but I didn't expect it to be so soon. I knew he was a con artist and the fraud charges would be there, but I did not expect the murder charge and conviction. I highly suspect there's more to the story than what the papers said, but for now, I'm reserving judgement on that part.
Secondly, there seems to be some sort of a connection between Lockie and his family and Dubrach. It sounds distinctly like Lockie's daughter was having dreams of Solasaich, and it scared her. That, combined with whatever it was speaking through Andromeda in the first episode, is setting up something major.
Third, Mathias fucked up in a pretty major way and he now knows it. He should never have taken justice into his own hands without at least talking to Andromeda first. As the injured party and the leader of the cult, any action taken against Lockie should have been her decision. I think he's basically ended his friendship with Andromeda, and will have to grovel long and hard to get back into her good graces after this.
He's also alienated himself from at least one close friend in the end by implying that criminals are okay only if they're idiots. But Georgie was right. If Mathias keeps going on this path, he's probably going to end up dead or worse.
And that brings me to what's next.
I mentioned the something that possessed Andromeda in the first episode. It said, "Brother, you imprisoned me and stole my name and power. And now I see your descendants coming to stop me, But I will not stop until our presence..."
Factoring in the scene with Lockie and his daughter, I think that somehow, Lockie is directly tied in with Solasaich. There's also the implication that somehow, Solasaich managed to disguise himself as Dubrach and stole his power, which has some interesting implications for the question of just what the hell the cult on St. Kilda is worshipping.
The story of the First Follower was an interesting piece of lore, but I'm not sure where and how it fits in yet
It sounds like there's going to be an all-out war between Dubrach and Solasaich coming, with the people on St. Kilda having to either take sides or take cover, and it's going to cause a major split in the community.
The fact that Andromeda stripped the island council of their rank and duties has set up a major shift in power, and that vacuum is going to have to be filled. It's just going to be a question of who she chooses to fill the positions and why.
On the subject of the love triangle, it's obvious at this point that Mathias doesn't have a chance with Andromeda, and not just because she doesn't have a thing for redheads. When he took justice into his own hands, he pretty much ended that possibility.
They haven't told us enough about the relationship between Andromeda and Lockie for me to really have a handle on why she trusts him, or what made her decide to bring him into the fold so early in his time on the island. The fact she got directly involved and has taken personal responsibility for him implies that she knows something, but there's no explanation as to why or how she knows it.
On the subject of Mathias and Lockie's relationship, I have a feeling that if things go south in a major way, they may end up as reluctant allies. If they do end up working together, it will be with gritted teeth and no love lost between them. If nothing else, the one thing they can agree on is that they love Andromeda.
On the subject of Mathias, it's clear at this point that the one thing that's really driving him is jealousy. Lockie is better with people than he is, and he's apparently won Andromeda's heart. The question is, will it destroy him in the end, or will he pull his head out of his ass and let it go? At this point he probably has very few friends on the island and he will have to step carefully.
I said it before, and I'll say it again. War is coming to St. Kilda on more than one level, and it'll be interesting to see what comes of it.
St. Kilda - Determination and Curiosity
Apologies for skipping a week. I've been struggling with writer's block, and I am hoping that this may help me break it. Also, last week's episode felt like setup for what was to come.
So. The past two weeks, we've had more than a few developments.
First of all, we've gotten some information as to why Andromeda is so determined to have Lockie in her life. Her family's curse is killing her, and she thinks he can heal her. More to the point, she thinks Dubrach himself led Lockie to the island to do that.
Which brings us to this week, where we find out that Lockie's con artistry extended to being a bogus faith healer. And not only has his past come back to bite him in the ass, he's been put in the position where he's going to have to prove he can do what he claimed he could.
I do have to agree with Lockie on the subject of the journals. It seems odd that Cormac, who had been fairly verbose on paper, would suddenly clam up at a point, and that he wouldn't say a word in his journals about his little daughter Andromeda. There was some kind of major change in there, and Andromeda was probably too little to notice it or to know what happened. And, for my money, if there were journals missing, they've probably been destroyed.
I noticed that the fallout from that first ritual and the aftermath is still coming. The immediate political fallout has yet to hit, I think, but it's going to cause a lot upheaval when it does.
It's kind of heartbreaking that Angelique wouldn't even sell Wee Mary any cat foot because she decided to side with Mathias. Poor Toast was an absolute innocent in the whole mess and did not deserve that.
And on the subject of our favorite red-haired disaster area, does Mathias actually have any relationships that he hasn't screwed up in some way, shape, or form?
He alienated probably both of the Torrence brothers, and I can't see Wee Mary wanting anything to do with him. And given what happened after the attempted ritual, I can't see him being too popular with the community in general.
Whatever relationship he's got with Andromeda is probably gone after his attempted coup (whether that was what he actually intended or not) and trying to throw Lockie into a bottomless pit.
His relationship with Niyathi is probably shaky at best, considering she's his ex-wife and that they should probably have never gotten together to begin with. He's been carrying a torch for Andromeda since he was kid, and I don't think he was her first choice, either. The fact she's quite definitely moved on from their relationship and is getting involved with Lockie is not going to help things any. At this point, I'd say that the only thing they have in common at this point is Hari.
Hari, of course, is still an adorable little kid, and I know people guessed that Mathias was his father just from the way they interacted in the first episode. I've gotten the impression that Mathias loves him dearly, but has no idea how the hell to relate to him. The only time that child showed any interest in being in his father's presence was when Mathias was going to get him ice cream and then make the phone call that probably brought Preston to the island looking for Lockie.
The backbone, however, I don't think is as literal a thing as Niyathi and Lockie seem to think it is. For my money, it's probably a person, though at this point, I don't know who, and I can't see Andromeda being happy with the idea of them poking around her family crypt while chasing a metaphor.
Personally, I suspect it might be Mathias, but I don't know if that's just because I have a minor crush on Ben Meredith (I like his voice!) or because he's the only other character with the potential for a major story arc. Mathias certainly sees himself as the backbone of the community, even though everyone else seems to see him as a pain in the ass. Plus, I like the idea of Mathias and Lockie becoming reluctant allies and even more reluctant friends while they deal with whatever's coming.
UPDATE: Just went back and realized that I had a paragraph out of order, and went back and fixed it. I have no idea how I managed to miss it the first time. Sorry about that.
