Throwback to when it was the world cup and I was wearing my like Bosnia jersey to support (because of the support for Palestine among the supporters and I have family there and it means a lot to see survivors of the genocide and their descendants make it big) and some random guy from my form started singing USA by Dubioza Like its funny to a point and I love that this song has become international but I feel like too many people are like "haha look at the funny lyrics haha broken english" which pmos so much because the song actually talks about important themes (like the brain drain in Bosnia due to corruption/result of the genocide where people are leaving to go to the US in search of a "better life" because they feel like they have no choice. Esp poignant since the team is mostly made up of first gens who chose to play for Bosnia)
Also speaks to the fact that people are never taken seriously (by the West esp but also as a whole) even if they are speaking about serious topics if they aren't perfectly fluent in the language/speak with an accent
