Kate is honesty one of my favorite characters in the Fandom. She was first introduced as a completely different character though 😃

The og concept of Kate was so funny to me, idk why. Originally she was a story book character and a girl from England. Which explains why once she was introduced as a kid out of the book, she loved reading and making story books, and introduced as a knight in the caballe episode.

If not Naiya, Kate is definitely closest to Dora out of the group. She’s the energetic friend that Dora can relate too. Their energy is kinda a match and Dora definitely let’s more loose when she’s with Kate. Kate is probably also one of Dora’s comfort people, Dora comforts Kate, Kate comforts Dora. Even if Dora needs to be comforted s bit more, Kate definitely doesn’t mind.

As @squishiifishrose mentioned in her Headcannon, Dora's growing anxiety. As I mentioned in one of my headcanons, Dora hugged her guitar in that one scene, probably out of comfort. I finally found where she hugged the teddy bear in S’more camping episode.

If you didn’t know, Dora had and still has her teddy bear Osito. The bear in Pablo’s bag isn’t Osito, but probably the closest thing to it. Maybe Pablo brought it js incase cause of her forgetfulness (again from @squishiifishrose). I feel like if Dora had to deal with criticism, she wouldn’t really show that she’s offended or upset until she’s alone. She may or may not cry herself to sleep, while hugging onto her Osito because she doesn’t really wanna tell her parents. And she sleep facing away from the door because of her siblings walked in and saw their big sister like this, they’d definitely. I know this is about Kate, but Both and the rest of the group know she doesn’t handle criticism as well as she seems. Sense she lives the closest, she’d probably make an excuse for homework because Dora needs the comfort hugs. Same would be for Kate except she doesn’t live as close, so she’d have a longer walk home, but it’s be worth it.

I also feel like Kate is the most okay it’s physically touch, or giving physical touch. Not that the others don’t, she’s just more physical. And not in a bad way.

You’d have to watch the full episode to see how the hug happened. But I think this is Kate comforting Dora because she’s a little over stimulated or something. I’m the episode, on their way out the cave, the pirates are still following them. Kate and Pablo are telling Dora while she’s steering the wheel, but she brushes is off. They’re almost out so the pirates wouldn’t catch up. Then the cave starts to close in on them and she’s probably a little stressed. The sea monster gives them a good push with his sneeze, and then managed to make it out. Pablo cheers and Dora and Kate go to hug eachother. But they stay in the hug once Pablo points something out is wrong. They are both holding each other, but it’s more so how it’s Kate holding Dora, not Dora holding Kate. I also think that’s super cute <3.

I know for a fact Dora and the others were friends in the rainforest. Back then, Naiya was the calmest in the group. Not Dora. But as they got older, Dora lost some of their excitement and peppiness, making her a lot more calmer. Kate on the other hand, never lost it. They all know Dora did though. Kate is the friend in the group who helps Dora let loose a little. So in the episodes she’s with Kate, she does tend to be just a little more excited and a little more adventurous. Which does also lead to her being comfortable with Naiya too. Like as an older teen, the only times she used the idea of swinging on vines was when she’s with Kate, and Naiya. Pablo’s there too, but she’s fine with him all the time. Kate is definitely someone Dora can confide in, as well as the other group members. I feel like she may also have ADHD like Dora (got this from research and @squishiifishrose) because of how jumpy she is. Pretty sure adhd also means you have problems sitting still? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Not to cut out Daisy or anything, but I feel like Dora hung out with Alicia a little more than Daisy. Both of them are her older cousins, but Alicia is closer to her age.

Dora is the oldest sibling in her family as you know. So the closest thing she has to an older sister or sisters is probably Alicia and Daisy. More so Alicia as I explained. They probably hung out a lot in the rainforest, so when Dora’s not adventuring or with her other side of the family, she’s with Alicia. I also noticed this tiny detail while rewatching the series.
