John has a lot of expensive clothes right? We've established that even though his clothes look basic- they're tailored and everything. Some of them are pricey brands, etc.
You can't just toss those into the washer!! Dryclean and press them bad bois!! Keep 'em crisp and fresh!!
Ever since I've started working at a drycleaners, I've been looking at the outfits for BBC Sherlock and like- omg John must be constantly picking up stuff from the drycleaners because majority of the clothes he wears would have to be drycleaned/pressed/starched. Not because of the shirts themselves, but because of the amazing state he keeps them in (and his military-like formality when it comes to personal upkeeping).
And don't even get me STARTED with Sherlock's stuff- like yeah that can be washed at home and whatnot. Mrs. Hudson could iron them- but the belstaff??
THE BELSTAFF??
Spot clean/dryclean to keep that puppy in good shape. Also the scarf.
And like- how many holes do they need to patch up over time?? Button replacements because they keep ripping eachother's clothes off??
TL;DR- Sherlock and John have a stack of drycleaner's reciepts somewhere and the drycleaners that they go to either love them or hate them.
