Daily Writing Challenge: May 25-31
Cruel/Beauty (Day One)
( @daily-writing-challenge )
Monsters are not the things that your parents tell you about in fairy tales. They hide in plain sight, behind the trappings and beauty of society. They can be your neighbors, your colleagues, even the little old lady down the street from you.
Rarely are they the ones with teeth and claws, cruelly shunned by the rest of society.
You have been taught to fear the teeth and claws of the unknown, those that are different from you. "They are not beautiful, they don't deserve your love and attention."
But those people are wrong.
There is beauty in the terrifying, the unknown. Sharp teeth and claws can be gentle and soft. The growling and snarling you have been taught signals only pain and death can come to mean safety. Home.
You must simply be willing to look for it.
!! - Gin
Send â!!â and Iâll write a para description of your muse from mineâs perspective, including:
Their looks
Their personality
And who they are to my muse
+ Etc!
Penned elegantly, coiled into a scroll tied with a light blue ribbon, and left at a barstool Gin would often occupy. Anonymous.
A voice growled out the word "gin" like a demand, and I saw it wasn't poured in a glass, but cut from a mouth made for grins, set into the softest, prettiest face. It was her name.
I don't know if she smiles or is just baring teeth. Is there a difference for the Moonbound? You can see the wolf in her woman shape. The way she tenses with every moment another voice comes at her. Like strings pulled too tight to the bow. Almost breaking free.
And then she speaks and I hear the joyful rush of a fiddler. A dance of words, full of life. If there is a predator there, a dark shape set in the grass for a hunt, her voice chases it away. I cannot help but listen and smile, though I shouldn't.
I only know her name. I wonder if she will one day know mine.
{ For @drunkenworgen. Thank you @major-gilneass! }
âThe sword bit me first. I was just defending myself.â
One of the Nurses was applying an alchemically altered potion upon the "bite" wound, it's powder that both clogs up the wound and disinfects it all in one. While another is prepping bandages to rapidly bind the wound to make sure the powder stays in place. All the while Dor'lof is rapidly jotting notes down. "I can't tell if you literally fought magical swords or if you were in a tussle by some ne'er-do-wells. Either way it'll be, mmh, Three thousand seven hundred and thirty eight gold"
He says while handing her the receipt, which naturally says nothing about the actual price since there's no actual charge being made. "Would you like Rabies shot, or perhaps a tetanus shot? Both could be quite serious you know~" he teased. Finally, he grabbed his weapon that was standing next to him, defying gravity. The Doctor digs into his pocket and offers Gin a lollipop. "For being good."

Gin runs past Jaina at first before skidding to stop and backtracking. The Gilnean hands the archmage a candy cane before continuing on her sprint. - @drunkenworgen
Jaina had been so lost in thought that anyone rushing by had barely caught her attention at all until a candy cane was hastily shoved in her hand. A quick glance at the womanâs face made her smile, but before she could say anything the Gilnean dashed away again without a word. Jaina frowned.
Her sprint was allowed to continue for three seconds before Jaina casually lifted her hand and flicked her wrist. Ice encased her quarry from waist to ground. Biting off the end of the candy cane, the Lord Admiral walked toward her without any urgency.
âItâs been far too long, Gin,â she smiled as she approached, âIâm so pleased to see that youâve survived every disaster our world has faced thus far.â
âI didnât get a chance to thank you for the treat.â Jaina opened the palm of her empty hand and conjured an apple strudel, handing it to Gin.
âI know youâre in a rush so I wonât keep you, though I find that it can be nice to occasionally slow down and chill out for a bit.â She turned to walk back, biting into the candy cane.
âHappy Winter Veil, Gin. The spell will wear off very shortly.â

For science: How would your character react to a dog whistle? Human or worgen form. - @drunkenworgen
I love this question! Human form, it would get his attention. If heâs heard it before, enough to notice/know heâs the only one to hear it. Heâd straighten up and look around, on edge or otherwise, if he has a specific association to the sound, such as someone he already knows using it to get his attention. While in his Worgen form--usually only during an intense fight--I think it would be a quick way to bring him to a halt, as he tends to go berserk. A dog whistle could stop him in his tracks and quickly âsoberâ him up.
donât know how old this ask is, but thanks, @drunkenworgen !!! Great question to help me get back into the feel of Johnas (-:
@drunkenworgen liked for a starter!
   Thank the Light for sanctuaries like Dalaran. Her attitude gets her into enough trouble with both factions alike, but at least here there could be no retaliation. Outside the sewers at least. Seaandra clinked two bottles of Bradensbrook wine as she approached the familiar Gilneans.
   âHeya Gin,â Seaandra said, offering a smile, but still clearly awkward. âYou uh... I bought this on impulse. Wanna help me get rid of it?â
It Begins
One decent thing about having a new body was the ability to sneak into places she would have otherwise been unable to get. A rotting, walking corpse followed by a disinterested void walker attempting to get into the Alliance inn in Dalaran? Huge red flags.
But a lone, blind, seemingly Quelâdorei woman? No problem.  âZerinâ was free to go where she pleased, regardless of faction.
