Protect.
My character keeps yours safe from harm.
Arthur gritted his teeth as his hands gripped Caliburn. His hands were shaky and blood was dripping down the side of his face, but he didn’t care. His focus was on two things. One, the army of demons staring him down with glowing eyes, two, the injured woman behind him. He could feel her eyes boring into his back angrily.
"You freakin’ idiot! Get outta’ here already! I can take care o’ myself!" Arthur smirked, only twitching as a shot of pain ran down his arm all the way to his fingertips.
"I’m afraid I cannot do that, Shura," he responded evenly. “It would be unfitting of a knight and a gentleman such as myself to simply leave an injured flower to her own devices. A demon lunged at him, which he easily sidestepped and cleaved in two, disappearing in a haze of dark matter. “Besides, your injuries are great, mine are merely trifle scratches," he bragged, even as blood drenched the arm of his coat.
"You’re gonna’ freakin’ die!" Shura yelled at him, almost sounding desperate. Arthur smirked, preparing himself as a wave of them rushed him. They surrounded him in a flurry, all jagged teeth and needle-point claws. The roars around him furiously filled his head, but he blocked them out for the most part.
He could feel the pain, but his brain shut off his reaction to it. If he went down, he would die, and so would she. Caliburn whirled around, a flash of bright steel. In the fray, he managed to sacrifice a portion of his hair, and the demon horde was swiftly dealt with in one deft blow.
The threat finally dealt with, he collapsed onto his knees, breathing heavily. Looking up through his shadow of bangs, he coughed and smirked at her.
"Me? Die? Hmph. You insult me, love."
