If a lwj characterization is not making me go "that is so weirdly adorable and melodramatic and slightly feral" i don't want it
Couldn't figure out if I could reblog directly with the commentary so, this is in response to this prompt on my post:
@elitharavenclaw said: What about a post canon discussion conference where lwj snaps that everyone is still suspicious about his husband and nobody has ever heard him say that many words again? If you feel inspired that is.
Trapped in a room full of bickering sect leaders, Wei Wuxian can admit that getting Lan Wangji drunk in the middle of a discussion conference may have been a miscalculation.
In their defense, neither of them had planned on attending the conference in the first place. It was being held at Cloud Recesses, yes, and Lan Wangji had shown up at some points, but with Wei Wuxian being the controversial figure that he was, Lan Xichen had been accommodating enough to allow the two of them to spend most of that time hidden away in the Jingshi.
A plan that would have worked perfectly to ensure an event with minimum conflict had Lan Wangji not gotten drunk and decided he must show Wei Wuxian something outside, then proceed to get distracted and lead them around until they ended up running in the middle of the evening meal. Admittedly, he had been guilty of encouraging his husband, but how could he have predicted this is where they’d end up?
They had tried to sneak back out of the room, but then some disciple saw them and it wasn’t long until all hell broke loose. Yao-zongzhu said something about his presence and the whole sneaking business, someone agreed with him, something something evil Yilling Laozu, something something “I’m not sure how the Lan Sect puts up with this”, then Jiang Wanyin got involved - because of course he did, and things escalated into the good old fight about his supposed wrongdoings sixteen years ago.
"Enough." The anger in Lan Wangji’s voice seemed to surprise everyone present so much that they did quiet down.
Then he stopped, collecting his thoughts.
Wei Wuxian was equal parts touched and apprehensive that his husband had stepped up to his defense. Drunk as he was, he had no idea of what he was going to say.
Thankfully, Lan Wangji was the best even while inebriated, so when he spoke again the sharpness in his voice had been replaced by the steady cadence he used while teaching. Wei Wuxian watches, baffled, as his husband remembers all of those present how the ghost path had been praised during the sunshot campaign, how none of them showed their so called concern until that power wasn’t under their control anymore, how their actions regarding the Wen Remnants had been cruel and unjust, akin to the Wen Sects behavior, how his attempt to save them had been righteous, that “Though the series of events that came after is harder to classify within the bounds of right and wrong when there are so many perspectives involved, none of Wei Ying’s actions were evil.”
For all that he had known about his husband's stance and this was not the first time he defended him, such acts never failed to fluster him. Besides the hilarity of hearing Lan Wangji politely ask all these people to kindly fuck off, after pointing out that “In the three years since his revival, my husband has done nothing to warrant such accusations.”
When he was satisfied with his impromptu lecture, he held Wei Wuxian’s hand and started leading them away. He was happy to go, only distantly registering an attempt to continue the argument behind them.
They barely made it to the house before Wei Wuxian threw himself at him, smiling wide enough to hurt. "You're too much sometimes, Lan Zhan," he announced, full of fondness. “What am I supposed to do with you?”
Then he answered his own question by leaning in for a kiss.
Drunk!lwj shenanigans

drunk wangji in the untamed special edition: episode 15
can you believe this man can pull off THREE whole head accessories at once
I just saw this on twitter about drunk LWJ and I want y'all to cry with me (at least those who didn't know, like me)...
“I didn't understand this scene, why did Lanzhan want to drink water when he was drunk, but unconsciously raised the cup above his head. Later I saw a master said : Because he poured a glass of wine.
"Brew a cup of life and death’s joy and grief, to honour a young man"
16 years living without Weiying, everytime Lan Wangji picked up the glass of wine, he always did the same, always gave it to his young man first.
A Ling is that kind of drama where you can't see any hand-in-hand or hugging scenes, but many of us still can't get over it."
