Pairing: Wanderer x Reader
Summary: You're first impression of Wanderer wasn't great, but he won't leave you alone.
Word Count: 1100+
Contains: Gender-neutral reader, shy/sensitive reader, reader POV, Akademiya life, fluff, strangers to tentative friends, Wanderer implied to have a crush on reader if you squint
Wanderer was literally everywhere you went. He was in the same classes, his dorm was in the same hall as yours and he went to the same spots for breaks as you didâit felt like he was following you. While some would jump at the chance to befriend the handsome genius that took the Akademiya by storm, you were not one of them.
Frankly put, you don't like him all that much. He's haughty, distant and has a bit of an arrogant disposition. While not outwardly pretentious like some of your other classmates, he seems cold even when he's being polite. It's off-putting to someone like youâthat someone being shy and a bit awkward.
Though, it's not as if he has ever been particularly rude to you. The opposite, is true in fact. But your first interaction with him left a lasting impression.
You had been sitting beside each other in class and in your hurry to write down notes, you'd tipped your inkwell over. The entire top half of the page immediately drowned in ink, bleeding through your journal and leaving much of your notes indecipherable. Not wanting to make a scene, you had managed to fish out a handkerchief and hurriedly dabbed away what you could, leaving your fingers blotted in black.
While you were silently panicking, Wanderer simply watched you with a disinterested expression. After a beat, he pulls out his own handkerchief and sets it near you for you to use.
"Klutz."
It wasn't harsh, it wasn't cruel, it wasn't judgemental. It was just stated like a fact, murmured like a passing thought. And that's all he had said in your time of need. It left you momentarily stunned that he could be so aloof.
You felt heat creeping up your neck and cheeks, hands hurriedly wiping at your journal in hopes of salvaging anything, but to no avail. You couldn't even look at him, too focused on the way your heart seemed to be pounding in your ears the more flustered you got, and it was just so embarrassing that you wished that Lesser Lord Kusanali would appear to turn you into dust.
By the time class ended, you were the first out of the lecture hall, power walking your way to the bathroom to save face. That was your first impression of him, and the humiliation from the accident made you dislike him. You ignored the fact that the next day there was a new inkwell on your desk, along with a new journal filled with rewritten notes. You also ignored the fact that the handwriting looked suspiciously like Wanderer's.
Since then, you've done what you could to avoid him. Little things like swapping seats and running the moment he was anywhere near you. It was a bit of an overreaction, but the further away you were from him, the happier you were. It didn't seem to help much though since he seemed to almost insist on being in your presence.
Today was no different. Tucked away in the corner of the library, you have your nose in a book. You didn't quite understand the lesson from earlier that day, and felt a little too shy to ask the professor for clarification. So now you're rereading the last two chapters in hopes to parse some of the information on your own.
It wasn't going well.
With a sigh, you raise your head away from the pages, feeling like you're about to go cross-eyed. As your eyes leave the page to look forward, you nearly jump out of your skin at the sight of Wanderer sitting across from you, casually writing in his journal.
When did he get here?
His eyes flick up to meet your gaze for a moment and you immediately look back down at your book, missing the amusement flickering in his gaze. Your legs bounce nervously under the table as you try to decide whether to make your escape now or just ignore him since he seems to be preoccupied studying.
"What's the matter? No hello? Cat got your tongue?" He chuckles, his voice calm and cool as ever. You feel like he's mocking you. He in fact just thinks you're cute when you're nervous.
You glance up awkwardly, throat feeling tight like the words refuse to come out. "I uh...what?" you manage to mutter in response, the sound as weak as you feel. You grip the edge of your book tighter, pulling it towards you slightly like a shield.
Wanderer doesn't respond right away, watching you with an unreadable expression. When he finally speaks, his tone shifts to something a little less sarcastic and just a bit softer. "Relax. I'm not going to bite your head off."
You squirm in place awkwardly, a small placating laugh escaping you before your lips pull into a light frown. "I don't know that..."
He huffs through his nose and reaches out to tap the page you were reading, drawing your attention back to it. "You were struggling in class. You can ask for help."
Your thumb traces a small path back and forth on the page, unsure of what he was getting at. Was he calling you dumb?
Wanderer stares at you expectantly, but you're not looking at him. You're just staring at your book, shoulders tense and posture avoidant. "I was just a little confused is all," you reply quietly, hoping that would be the end of the conversation.
"Then ask me for help."
You look up in confusion, head tilting to one side like you didn't hear him properly. He meets your gaze unwaveringâwaiting.
"You want to help me?" You ask in disbelief, bewildered with the direction this interaction was going.
He sighs in mock exasperation, turning his journal so you can see that his notes are exactly what you needed to understand today's lesson. "Is that how you ask for help?"
You look at his notes, then at him, then back at his notes. So he wasn't making fun of you after all. He was just trying to be...helpful. Strange.
"No, I just um...thanks for the help," you stammer, feeling a little flush at his insistent attention.
Wanderer nods, lips nearly quirking into a smile. "It's barely an inconvenience," he replies with that snark you're more accustomed to. He shuts your book and pushes it to the side before replacing that empty spot with his journal.
"You won't be needing that while I'm here. Rely on me," he continues, somehow managing not to sound like he's belittling you.
There's a strange flutter in your chest that has you looking at him differently, but you accept his much needed help. Maybe you've been judging him too harshly after all.

Yea Iâm just in to start the induction. I did get the seaweed to dilate my cervix and Iâve been having a bunch of painful contractions since so hopefully things are going to go well and I donât need pitocin come morning.
A friendly grey wolf was spotted near your place Ms. Druid. Be sure to give it pets while walking past it. It likes pets and cuddles. -- Wolfie
Natureâs Soulmates
The silvery moon shone brightly in the vast sky.  Like a single catâs-eye, it pulsed with a luminescence through a soft haze.  The thin layer of clouds partially obstructed its full view, like a sheer lace curtain on a breezy summer evening; graciously allowing for the forest to be fully aglow with a guiding light. As the crisp autumn air brought forth a hint of the impending chill that signified natureâs warning of the change of season, leaves began to crack and crumble with each deliberate step.
A magical feeling surged through the air. Â And it was nights such as this, where our female druid felt most alive. Â Each full harvest moon, she paid homage to Selene by taking the form of a large wolf as part of her Circle of the Moon ritual. Her long flowing coat was pale blue with highlights of teal. Â While this was an unusual color for a natural wolf, it was the normal effect of the shapeshift that depicted her natural color as a genasi. Tonight, she frolicked in the dried leaves, ran full speed through the forest, and leaped over large rocks and dead tree stumps. After much consuming fun, nearly breathless, she stumbled upon a gently flowing brook and stopped to take a drink. Â Something caused her to stop mid-lap. It was the sound of a plaintive wail, from off in the distance.
She quickly ventured towards the sound. Â Through the dense foliage she saw it; it was a medium sized grey wolf. The wolf, whimpering in pain, was caught in a hunterâs trap. Â The beastâs left front paw was stuck in the steel trap. The wolf licked its leg feverishly, and desperately tried to release the trap. To no avail, the wolf was in dire need of help. Â Our druidess had a decision to make. Â She knew, in wolf form, that she would not be able to spring the trap. Â As large as she was, she did not have the strength in her lanky legs to apply the proper amount of force. By opposition, she realized that by dropping her wolf form, she would run the risk of frightening the wounded animal. She decided, she should approach as a familiar to try to gain the trust of the wolf before dropping form and freeing it. This was going to take some finesse.
Cautiously she approached with her head down to take a submissive stance. The grey beast bared its large fangs and growled. Lowering her head even further, she crept forward slowly. Â When she was a meter away, she dropped and laid prone on the ground. This act seemed to have pacified the wolf. It leaned forward to gather the scent of the druid but stopped suddenly as it was perplexed by the lack of a recognizable smell. This wolf did not smell like other beasts in the forest. Something was not right. Still, the larger wolf was down, showing no threat, and the wounded wolf was in such pain that its sole focus was removing itself from the predicament.
She felt that she should at least attempt to spring the trap while in her current state. Â Without making eye contact, she stood up and placed her large paw on the release lever; nothing, it would not budge. The grey wolf somehow sensed what the blue wolf was trying to do and did not attack. Â In fact, it joined in the pursuit and took its free paw and applied it on top of the larger paw to apply more pressure. The joint effort was futile. Â Even with the combined strength of both, the lever would not release. Â At this point, the druidess became extremely frustrated and began jumping up and down with both paws falling on the lever. She was pouncing and jumping; trying in vain the release the trap. Â The grey wolf howled in agony, because the missed attempts were jostling the trap and causing it to dig further into the wolfâs leg. Â Seeing the misfortune that she was causing; she abruptly stopped and snorted a gruff pant in defeat.
She had no choice. There was only one option. Â She had to drop form, because in this state she did not possess the strength; nor could she cast any magic. She retreated two meters, looked the wolf in the eyes, and dropped form. She stood before the wounded wolf in all her glorious genasi form. She was three inches short of six feet. Her long teal locks cascaded down her back, which complimented the tone of her pale blue skin. Her markings glowed white in the full moonlight; while her piercing blue eyes sparkled as she stared cautiously at the wolf. Oddly, while startled, the wolf made no aggressive movements. She carefully reached out her hand as she gazed tenderly into the wolfâs tearful eyes.
âEasy girl.  Easy now.  I am not going to hurt you.  Let me help you get out of this.  Okay? I am here to help.  Please donât attack me.  Relax now.  Itâs going to be okay.  Work with me here.â, she pleaded.
Cautiously she encroached closer as she looked deeply into the wolfâs eyes while she hummed a melodic tune lightly. Without the wolf noticing, she shortened the gap; until at long last, she was within the distance she needed. She promptly stepped on the release lever and reached down and carefully removed the broken paw from the trap. She placed both hands around the leg and muttered something in an ancient primordial language. A warm light engulfed the wound that brought an immediate sense of relief. She released her hold and disengaged.
âThere you go. That wasnât so bad now, was it? See, that feels better, doesnât it?  Itâs going to take a while to fully heal, so go easy on it. Be well my friend. Okay, now off with you.  Head back to your pack. Go on now. Go on.â, she urged.
She waved her hands in a scooting motion. But the wolf was not retreating. At first, the druidess thought she might be in trouble. Â Was the wolf going to attack? Â She felt the best course of action was to back away slowly, while not breaking eye contact. When she had built up enough of a safe distance, she waved âgoodbyeâ and turned around and walked away. Â She continued to walk back to the stream where she was prior to the incident. Â She had walked for about 15 minutes when she felt an odd sensation; like she was being watched. She turned around and noticed that the wolf was following along at a languid pace due to its limp. Â She turned around and tried to shoo the wolf to go away again.
âHey now. I thought I told you to head back to your pack.  Why are you following me?  Iâm not really a wolf, okay?  Itâs just something I can do.  I mean, technically I can change into any animal I see, but some of them may scare you. I just canât do it right now and show you.  Why am I trying to explain this to you?, she babbled.
You donât even understand. Go now. LEAVE!â, she shouted as she stomped her foot on the ground hoping to scare the wolf into going on its way.
The wolf was not deterred and continued its awkwardly gradual pursuit as the druid continued to press forward until she reached the bank of the stream. She turned and looked over her shoulder and saw the wolf sitting as it awaited her next move. Â She placed her feet into the cool water and smiled. Finally, she relented and patted the ground to motion for the wolf to join her.
âOkay, silly, come on over.  I guess you are very thirsty, huh?  I might as well, clean and bandage that wound while I am at it.â, she grinned as she realized she had lost her heart a wolf.
The wolf strolled up next to her. Carefully, it leaned its head forward and began to drink its fill of the cold water. Â The druidess tore off a strip of fabric from her royal blue cape. Â She submerged it into the water and meticulously used it to clean the wound on the leg while it was engaged in quenching its thirst. When she cleared away all of the blood, she carefully wrapped the cloth around the leg to prevent infection and to offer a makeshift support brace. Â
She lightly joked, âSee that. You are mine now. You are wearing my colors. I hope you like blue.â
Whereâs your family, girl? Donât you have anyone? I guess you are like me; all alone in this big world. Well you are more than welcome to accompany me if you want. Â It would be nice to have some company.â, she muttered on as she sighed.
When the wolf finished drinking, it sat besides the druid on the bank and stared into her eyes. Â She smiled and gently ran her fingers through the wolfâs fur. Â The contented wolf appeared appreciative and nudged closer. Â As she continued her soft petting, the wolf leaned forward and applied a huge slobbery lick to the druidâs face. The smiling druid threw her arms around the wolf and hugged tightly as she wiped the wolf saliva off her cheek by burying her face into the wolfâs pelt. Â Exhausted by the ordeal, they both collapsed on the grass and nestled close to one another. As the druidess laid her head on the wolfâs stomach, they both drifted off into a deep and peaceful slumber under the starry night sky.
And hence, this is the story of how druids and wolves tamed each other and became companions. Â To this day, they travel night and day throughout many lands interwoven in spirit through their devotion and loyalty for each other. Fiercely protective; creating a supernatural soul-bond that can never be broken for all of eternity.

wardrobe malfunction
Pairing: Wanderer x fem!Reader
Summary: You and Wanderer have a date, but you're having wardrobe problems.
Word Count: 600+
Contains: fem!reader, chubby/insecure/dramatic reader, established relationship, fluff
Wanderer is leaned up against the door frame of your bedroom, arms crossed as he watches you in silence. This is the fifth outfit you've changed into in the last 30 minutes and your reservation at the local restaurant is coming up in 20. Normally, he lets you do as you please, but he's getting genuinely concerned with the way you're getting more and more distressed.
"Ugh, this one looks bad too..." you grumble to yourself, staring at yourself in the mirror with a deep frown. The way the fabric settled around your belly and hips isn't too your liking, and no matter how many times you've changed, it looks exactly the same. You tug at the sides of your dress, hoping it will change the look of it somehow, but no, it just settles in the exact same folds. Your frustration has been steadily growing and it seems it's about to reach a breaking point.
"I'm so....ugly!" you begin to whine as you practically tear off your dress, tossing it at the mirror once it's off. You swore it looked cute when you bought it, but now it just looks awful! Your eyes begin to glisten with tears, a huff of annoyance escaping your lips as you pace in front of your closet, losing hope that anything will look good.
"You're not ugly," Wanderer chips in calmly as he walks over and picks the dress up off the ground. He honestly liked all the outfits you picked, but he knows his reassurance won't be any help when you're in this state.
"I aaaam. Nothing looks good on me!" You groan in despair as you plop down onto the edge of your bed, shoulders slumping in defeat. The reservation was coming up soon too and it was just stressing you out even more.
Wanderer folds the dress over his forearm and approaches you. He reaches out and lightly pinches the fat of your cheek. "Everything looks good on you. You're being picky."
"No I'm not!"
"Yes you are."
"Am not!"
You cross your arms with a pout, ignoring his fingers on your skin as you sniffle lightly. He stops pinching you and pats the top of your head comfortingly. It only makes your eyes more watery.
"Cry if you need to cry. Do you want me to help you pick an outfit?" he asks, hoping that'll at least temporarily appease your swell of emotions. Despite his composed demeanor, his mind is moving a mile a minute at the sight of your tears.
"You're too pretty to be crying over a dress," Wanderer continues softly as he unfolds the dress and lets it hang fully to look at it properly. He was with you the day you bought it and he remembers how excited you were to wear it properly. He has no idea why you hate it now. It's genuinely a cute dress, especially on you.
You let out a deep sigh as you look down at yourself, fingers poking at your chubby belly. "I'm too pretty to be crying over a dress," you repeat his words to yourself before abruptly getting to your feet. You wipe away your tears and place your hands on your hips, demeanor shifting to something more confident. It's like a switch was flicked.
"We're going to be late for our date!" And suddenly the concern for your appearance is swapped to your concern of missing your reservation.
You pull the dress out of Wanderer's hands and slip it back on in a mere matter of seconds. He blinks incredulously at the sudden change, watching you curiously as you tug the dress down and straighten it out.
Doing a few small turns in the mirror, you smile, satisfied with what you see. "I actually do look pretty cute in this, right?" you ask, turning towards him with a sheepish smile as if you weren't just in tears over it earlier.
Wanderer can only nod, letting out a small chuckle as he steps behind you and places his hands on your soft hips. He rests his chin on your shoulder as he stares at your reflections in the mirror. "Yeah, you look cute."
Iâm feeling alright, was on intermittent monitoring all night so 20 minutes on monitors and 40 minutes off. The contractions woke me up at times and the monitoring definitely did as well. Iâm tired and will need a nap today but Iâm contracting well without pitocin, so hopefully Iâm dilating well too. Theyâll take the dilators out soon.
