As depicted in the article above, it is evident that drug use at electronic dance music festivals – EDM Festivals – has continued to affect those who partake.
Although many believe it is due to the lack of security at shows and festivals, it is now being argued that today’s generation is just not being informed properly about drug use. It is clear that today’s curriculum does touch on drug use; however there is no sense in denying its main focus is to detour today’s youth through graphic images and horrific tales of skid row.
In some cases these stories do work to ‘scare’ off some of today’s youth when it comes to drug use. But then what happens to those who choose to experiment? No one says that they see themselves experimenting with drugs such MDMA or Marijuana, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have a use for general knowledge.
The biggest problem here isn’t the drug use itself, but the ignorance of its users. We aren’t properly educated for when or if we choose to experiment at raves and festivals.
Not only are the users uneducated on such drug use but also so are the festival officials in regards to their lack of medical attention and water availability. Although these issues are now becoming recognized in the EDM industry, it is still vital that these rave new comers understand the dangers and safe use at these events.
Another note that was found to be rather interesting was the outreach of the artists themselves. Many DJ’s proclaiming to be clean and promoting safe shows also has put out a positive outlook for these ravers in the sense that they don’t feel the pressure to ‘pop mollies’ at raves. Many people think it’s the thing to do at raves and shows however as put fourth by many involved in the industry it is more or less a set back to what its all about.
Personally I love the music and the community associated within it. Not to say “don’t do drugs”, but if you choose to try it out use your resources. Considering we are a generation with the world at our fingertips we should find it rather easy to do a little research on our dear friend Molly.
