I think I understand the difference between romantic and platonic relationships. Being demiromantic, I’ve definitely experienced both but it’s been hard to explicate it. But ultimately I think, for me at least, it comes down to the expectation of interwoven identity and life experience.
Both those things can happen in platonic relationships, and I’ve often chosen to interweave my life with friends; but when life pushes us in different directions, I may be sad but I’m not heartbroken. Whereas with romantic partners, I’d expect them to consider me when making life decisions and to work with me to find ways to continue weaving our lives together in the midst of general life chaos.

So, I just reread Howl's Moving Castle right after watching the movie, which I've never done (surprisingly for me), but I was kind of amazed that even tho both the movie and book are so different; it's so clear in the movie that the makers at least KNEW of the book. Like even if they changed certain things, there were so many scenes directly lifted from the book. IDK it's super cool since they're both so different in tone.
ffs I'm so tired of hearing professors "brag" about how their class is hard. You don't need to brutalize students to get them to learn. You need to do the opposite most of the time! They're human beings! Taking other classes, often working jobs, often with other life responsibilities!! And trust me, I get the whole "we have to uphold a standard of education" but is THIS how you wanna do it, Dr. Dinosaur? Needless gatekeeping without a thought at reaching students where they are? fucking hell
