From my Unofficial Teen Wolf Series: masterlist | announcement | summary
When Peyton woke up the digital clock on her nightstand read 12:37 AM. She squinted, confused as to why her body woke her up only a half hour later. A wave of exhaustion swept over her again but as she tried snuggling back into her pillows, she heard a distinct tap on her window. She froze in slight fear, relaxing slightly when she realized it had to have been the tree outside of her window. Then she heard a noise again. This time it was louder. Like a knock. Three...times...in a row. Peyton sat up abruptly, her heart pounding a million miles a minute.
Slowly, she made her way out of bed, grabbing a textbook off her desk on the way to her window. She wasn't just going to hide under her covers and wait for whatever pyscho was outside to come in and murder her. If she was lucky, it would just be a really friendly squirrel. She took a deep breath, one hand gripping the textbook, the other grabbing hold of her curtain. She bit her lip as she pulled it away and when she saw who was on the other side of her window, she let out a huge breath and a groan simultaneously.
"Oh, my God. Seriously, Stiles?!" She unlatched the lock on the window, pushing it open to allow her idiot of a best friend through. "Why the hell are you here at nearly one in the morning?"
Stiles spastically made his way into her bedroom, nearly falling to the floor. Stumbling, he glanced at her hand and smirked. "What are you doing defending yourself with a chemistry book? The only thing scary about chem is the teacher."
"Shh, Stiles, you'll wake up Jules!" Peyton hushed, her finger hovering over his lips.
"Please, Jules loves me. Maybe even more than she loves you."
The girl rolled her eyes. "Well, a tired Jules loves no one, so keep quiet while you tell me why you're here."
The buzz-cut headed boy's face lit up like a Christmas tree. "So, I was listening to my dad's police radio."
"Yeah. And you'll never believe what was found in the woods."
"But you haven't heard the best part."
"They only found half of it. And now my dad has a whole police unit out there looking for the missing half in the woods."
As Stiles spoke, Peyton's face scrunched up in disgust. "I am genuinely worried about how excited you are about this."
Stiles shook his head. "Well, we're always complaining about how boring Beacon Hills is."
"Pretty sure that's just Scott."
"Either way, something interesting finally happened and we're going to investigate it."
"Seriously Stiles? I need my beauty rest."
"No, you don't. You're gorgeous already, Peyt. Now, let's get moving so we can go pick up Scott."
Peyton was still reeling from the 'gorgeous' comment and took a moment to stutter a response, "You can't just go with Scott?"
"Come on, Peyt. It'd be no fun without you. You know I like you better than Scott." Stiles joked, throwing her a wink.
Her stomach fluttered and she began struggling to find an excuse to stay. She knew he wouldn't force her to go if she didn't want to. But she'd never turn down an opportunity to spend time with Stiles. And Scott of course.
"Alright fine. Let me just grab my jacket."
Stiles pumped his fist in the air. "Yes! I'll meet you by the jeep."
Instead of heading out of her bedroom door, Stiles turned around and headed back out the window.
"Um, Stiles, you know I have a front door, right?"
He scoffed, "Obviously. But that's no fun." He threw her one last smile before he climbed the tree back to the ground.
Peyton shook her head to herself. How in the world did this dork manage to get her wrapped around his finger?
